Why would we think it doesn't "have" a door? It could simply be left open.

There "is no roof", either - just an arch of steel wire. Doesn't mean a nice bubble canopy wouldn't emerge when needed, be it futuro-glass or forcefields.

Yes, which is well known for ending up in "Gamesters of Triskelion." One of Lazarus' inter-dimensional struggles must have damaged his craft because the dome is sitting in the rocks when Kirk comes back from his own zapping. I wonder if the real reason was unwanted reflections in the soundstage shooting?

The soundstage shoot on the planet set was unplanned -- originally, they had intended to get all of that footage on location at Vasquez Rocks.

My guess is the bubble was moved off the craft to reinforce this was the other craft if the parallel universe.

I imagined there was a forcefield that acted as a door. Man, can you imagine hurtling through space in that thing? Just tooling around space in this awesome little bubble ship with and open front. There you are just sitting there staring BTTW into the void.

One thing I wonder about Laz's little Scooty Puff Jr. doesn't have a door? How does it contain it's atmosphere, or does Lazarus's dinosaurian constitution mean he can hold his breath a long time?

Of course he had to "cheat" a bit, making the "gap" a bit more pie wedge shaped so that the panel could swing open. Given that alteration makes the pod seem a bit more pragmatic, I can't really blame him.

The abandoned planet need not be their own

Well , if you're dead set on having the episode make less sense, yes, you could decide that they both came from another planet, but in that case , why 'd they come to this particular planet? Matter Lazarus may be crazy, but even crazy people say true things once in awhile. We aren't given any reason to disbelieve his basic account of the situation in Sickbay, at any point later on.

He says in the same breath that his planet, that was devastated ages ago, is this planet below them now, and that they're both time travelers, to explain that first part, to explain why they aren't dead along with their people(s). (And explains their interest in, and presence on, that planet. ) Otherwise, why say it then? As a non sequitur? Why would they write it that way?

One thing-- did the Lazarus ships generate the corridor, or is it there from the old days? It's only been acting up lately, as far as the galaxy is concerned.
