The Admiral "F***ing" Clancy Appreciation Thread

Picard doesnt like it either.... (just dont make picard say it and im happy)

Let's ignore the word for a moment and go back to the context...

Picard is being all preachy again but Clancy has already decided that there is sufficient merit in his report that she *will* despatch a squadron of Starfleet ships to assist him -- but he's so busy being insistent that he won't actually STFU and allow her to say so!

She's not (I sincerely hope!!) "Badmiral" in the mould of the cliché that has bedevilled Trek for years; rather she's the C-in-C of Starfleet and she's doing what happens to everyone in that sort of role, she's juggling priorities. And this time, she thinks it IS a priority.

Sure she has history with Picard and clearly she was irritated with him when they last met in her office -- and, on balance, she had a point. This time, however, she comes across more like someone who's just known him a long time and knows what he's like and all she is really thinking is something like "oh, for pity's sake, Jean-Luc, I've accepted the points you have made and I'm trying to agree with you, if only you'd let me get a word in edgeways!" Of note, she does then go on to make a point of specifically acknowledging him as "Admiral Picard."

I kinda like Clancy -- I hope the production staff avoid another cliché and resist the temptation to kill this character.

Seriously, Kurtzman & Co are making one (animated) for Nickelodeon.

I'd like to see a Saturday morning block come back on CBS (or at least an animation streaming service-say, CBSA [CBS Animation]) that would show this and other animated shows, including new versions of classic CBS-owned animation properties like Mighty Mouse, Heckle & Jeckle, and this young lady that's a precursor to Kim Possible.

My reading of Clancy is that she isn't part of the problem. She is just a typical bureaucrat. Her decision not to help Picard in the beginning was entirely reasonable based on what she knew. Beneath her exasperation with him is a grudging respect that I think is mutual.

Other than the eff-bombs, there's really nothing there to celebrate beyond the run of the mill admiral of the week.

Fuck Brophy. Nogulich is still working too.

Clancy: Jean Luc on behalf of Starfleet we would like to apologize and offer you a new command.

Picard: Go fuck yourself Admiral........I have a ship and crew.

Roll credits
Mid credits:

Rios: I have a ship and you're a passenger, asshole! Now go back to your vineyard, I have paying customers waiting at Deep Space Eight.

Picard: Merde ... Kirsten, let's talk about that new command again.

Clancy: Are you fucking kidding me?!

She is the 2nd best admiral

#1 is that guy who walked out of the drumhead trial without even saying anything. Talk about bad ass

Yep, I think something like this too.

Imagine if a highly-decorated US naval admiral who had been retired for years came and asked to be reinstated and given command of a ship to investigate a rumor of a missing friend who might have been involved with a scientist working with the Russians on nuclear technology. I think the "typical bureaucrats" probably would be reluctant to go along with that.

But he couldn't say anything. In the 24th century is seems their is lots of mimes in Starfleet. Characters who don't say anything while the series regulars give them orders or in one case Doctor Crusher is examing a woman to see if she had used the transporter and not even a word from the patient. Most of Geordi's engineering staff knows never to say anything and let Geordi do all the talking. Same with Worf's security force.

They don't teach management at the academy.

Don't forget that the admiral is coming fresh from an MSNBC interview where he denounced US imperialism in Iraq.

I remember Ann Magnuson from Anything But Love. She was Jamie Lee Curtis' harpy boss. Man, she's so unrecognizable now.
