The Action Figure and Toy Collecting and Discussion Thread!

A nice space toy here:

Most spaceship toys are bulbous, like Audis and the Ford Taurus jellybeans.

I miss this look:

What's the best way to remove paint from plastic models? I've tried ethanol (0 effect), isopropanol (0 effect), acetone (immediate effect, but smears it around). I've done it with regular tissue paper and q-tips. Are there better ways? (It's about the black scorch marks on the PM GEN D ;) )

Meanwhile in Japan, a large collection of awesome vintage Astro Boy toys is about to be auctioned:

Does anyone remember these things?

Ok it was like a folder or packet and inside was a big card with a scene or background printed on it.

You had plastic sheets with bits of scenery and or characters on them which you could apply to the scene by laying the sheet with the item you wanted onto the scene and rubbing with the end of a pencil to get the item you wanted to stick to the printed background.

They came in many themes like space, medieval, fantasy or horror.

I remember that you had to be really careful or you would get only a partial transfer. Definitely not for the impatient or slapdash!

Although you can get rub-on transfers still, they tend to be aimed at the craft market (children making cards, for instance). When it comes to making scenes, I suppose that modern-day stickers require less care and are frequently reusable.
