Given my fannish devotion (read: obsession) with the character M'Ress from the Filmation animated series, you'd expect me to dream about her all the time. Funny enough, I rarely dream of catgirls, not even my own creations. But, I had one early this morning that I vividly recall, at least one "highlight". It involved the "reveal" of an upcoming limited release of a Mego type (8 inch) jointed doll of the Caitian comm' officer. Except the promotional photo did not depict the toy wearing the standard miniskirt uniform. Rather, it was a sleeveless unitard made of a white "netted" mesh. The "mane" appeared to be sculpted and cast in pliable poly-vinyl like the rest of the head rather than "rooted" hair like most fashion dolls. It was to be released around the holiday season but in limited numbers, probably online orders only, not available in brick'n'mortar stores.

No, I don't expect this to become reality. Frankly, I'm still amazed Hallmark released a figurine ornament and I have the bloody thing right here on my 'puter desk!

Dr. Zaius…Martian
That's some good design work there.
Beasts of the Cyberzoic
Now this is pretty damn cool. It's a KS for a new line of figures and I really like the idea. Like updating Dino Riders for the 21st Century.

Here's the link if people want to see more. They hit their goal so hopefully production will start soon.

"Young folks in [my] life"?? I want one of those bears for me! :adore::lol:

OK, well this is going back a good three months ago. I really wanted one of these bears, but I had to wait a bit to save up the extra money. Then there was the time needed for the Build-a-Bear Workshop to fulfill the order, and then international shipping... but he finally arrived!

So I present to you, Captain Orson T(eddy) Bear, of the USS Ursa Minor!

Oops! Forgive the bare bear photo, talk about conduct unbecoming an officer! :alienblush: But in this case, it's OK. BaBW calls this a "Nebula Bear" and the fabric used is a starry space scene, but very colourful, with the nebula pattern in the traditional Star Trek uniform colours. I actually really like the look of this, and I think it looks even better in person than it does in the photo. If you wanted to just keep your bear like this, it would look fantastic. He even has a Starfleet arrowhead embroidered onto his chest, so you still get that "Star Trek" connection (plus the Star Trek Universe logo on one paw, and Starfleet ship silhouettes on another).

But huge Trekkie that I am, I went for the full accessory option, so here is the captain more officially attired:

I went with the TOS uniform, just because I thought it looked better than the TNG version. But there is a TNG captain's uniform available too, if that's your preference. I bought mine in a bundle, but the uniforms are actually available separately too, so you could buy both and switch them from time to time. The boots were part of the bundle, but they are just the standard BaBW rubber boots (not specifically Star Trek), and are not included as part of the standard uniform if you buy it separately. To be honest, I prefer seeing his actual feet, so he will probably spend most of his time with the boots off.

Here he is with his pet tribble:

Tomorrow he will be pictured with his 121 pet tribbles! ;) The tribble actually makes sounds if you press it, but strangely, it seems to be the sounds of chirping birds! To be sure, there are a couple of brief snippets of the familiar tribble trilling, but they are definitely overwhelmed by the other sounds. It's not even the usual tribble "OMG a Klingon!!" shrieking... it's just birds. I also got an original series phaser prop as part of the bundle, which I didn't include a picture of. There is also a TNG style phaser available. The phasers come with the uniforms if you buy the uniforms separately.

Oh look, he's already made a friend!

:D

So I just wanted to say thank you to publiusr / @Dr. Savaard for bringing this to my attention way back at the beginning of July! But also, boo to publiusr for making me spend money I shouldn't! ;) Just kidding with that last bit, publiusr, I really do appreciate it. I think the little guy looks adorable, and I'm really happy with the purchase! :adore::)

That's freaking adorable and my wallet curses this post for it!

I got the new Sabine Wren figures in both Black Series (6" scale) and Vintage Collection (3.75" scale). The removable helmet on the VC figure looks comically oversized, even worse than Axe Woves' helmet. Collectors are reporting that the helmet for the Rebels five-points-of-articulation Sabine figure from some years ago fits on the new VC figure's head. So they probably could have engineered a better design for this if they had tried harder. I do prefer hollow removable helmets when feasible, rather than switchable alternate head sculpts.

13 years after the Vintage Collection was launched in stores we're finally getting Count Dooku. Lord Tyranus is on his way.
