The Action Figure and Toy Collecting and Discussion Thread!

Well, thanks as always for posting what you do! What you do have time to show us is always entertaining!

Probably the single most important Kenner figure I own. Apparently this is rare version of Yoda, with the Pac-man pupils and brown snake.. more popular was the orange snake. I got him for almost nothing from somebody just getting rid of their figures

Wow, cool! I've never owned a brown snake Yoda and that one's probably worth at least a few bucks to other collectors. :techman:

Hmm. I know the Yoda I've got came with the brown snake. Not sure about the pupils though. I'll have to find him and check.

I didn't even know there was a pupil variation on some of the old Kenner Yoda figures until now.

I love the Thanksgiving Shelf Avengers and their pumpkins! So great!

Also I am still in shock that yesterday the official Doctor Who Tumblr reblogged my little Thanksgiving story. Which resulted in an explosion of likes and reblogs. What a great honor. Here's the entry:

Today I saw this picture https://scontent-frt3-1.xx.fbcdn.ne...=e4abc5b7a447b8bbfea47b98eef286dd&oe=56DC62B5

After I stopped laughing it promptly inspired me to the following story. Do you now see why I desperatedly need that Nurse Chapel figure?

That was great. There's a TOS Kirk figure with a partially-ripped uniform shirt? I don't think I'd ever seen that one until now! Congrats on your story taking off and getting all those likes and reblogs!

Ooooooh! That Arrow cave! I love it!
I hope one day I'll also get a figure of Oliver in green suit but without the hood so we can see his face. I have been thinking of just cutting it away but then I'd still have the mask at his eyes.

And I hope your Oliver gets a Felicity!

Well, there isn't ;) I made it. Someone put the idea into my head and then I couldn't NOT make it. Here are some work in progress pictures:

At first I had wanted to use the gum shirt and just flap it around but it was too stiff and wouldn't hold down.

So I cut it away entirely:

Then I got out the Milliput to make a new chest and also to smooth out the creases at the shoulder:

Then I tried to match the paint on his face. I had to mix three colors (skin paint which originally was too pink, a little brown which at first made it too grey and then a little yellow also) to get it right and I am very proud that it looks so seamless:

While I was at it I also repainted his golden bands:

I glued the cloth on his arm upside down and then pushed it down so it would look like ripped:

Again I thought the cloth on his chest would hang naturally but the material was too stiff, so I had to glue it into place. I had hoped it would swing around with different poses but alas:

(The yellow cloth itself has a tale. I've kept it since 1989 when I was ordered from school to go to an official GDR demonstration in Berlin. And we got these clothes in different colors for waving. I've always kept it thinking one day it might come in handy. And it was the exact right yellow color I needed)

And when you take off the golden vest from the Mirror Kirk, he looks like this - that's the guy that lies on the stretcher under the blanket:

I intend to make him the vest from "A Private little War"

Congrats on your story taking off and getting all those likes and reblogs!

Thank you very much!

Your customizing work on the torn-shirt Kirk figure was so professional-looking that it didn't enter my mind that you'd done that yourself. It looked like a toy company had designed and made him and you completely fooled me with the quality of that work! THAT is what truly great customs should do: make you believe they came right out of a factory and not a collector's talents! Well done! :bolian:

Generic military line from Big Lots. Only show up at Christmastime. Lot of smaller sets with cool accessories like the bunk beds and wall locker.

Thank you very much, that is high praise indeed if you cannot tell one from the other! I hope my "Private little war" custom will be just as good.

Before I run away and spend even more money - from looking at your figures in this setting I take it that it would be too small for mine? I have some military stuff which definitely is of a smaller scale.

Would anyone want to see my new Indiana Joneses? So far I only had one of the small ones, but they are really small and not many joints and so I never did much with him.

But now that I found those 7" ones you may see them more appear in my stories. Apparently they were only sold at Disneyland stores and are therefore rare? At least that's what the ebay description said.

What can I say, I am a sucker for lots of accessory stuff and I love this:

It can be taken apart so I guess it will come in handy:

I'll have to watch the movies again as I don't remember some of the things:

And since I couldn't decide between the two I got this one as well:

Different setting:

Different accessories:

And even the whip he comes with is differently:

So, overall a good haul I guess!

It is the 1/18 (4") scale. I checked my Big Lots today, lots of cool stuff bot not this set this year. May have to wait or try online.

Picked up an extra Flash and Diggle today. Repainted the skin areas silver and instant costume storage manikins. Now I just need to figure out how to light the boxes.
