Spoilers The Acolyte

Long story short... My question now is: Is it worth watching "The Acolyte"? I understand the show has been cancelled. And that it got quite some hate. Is it worth watching after all, or don't I miss much by skipping it?

Has it an open ending, btw, so cancellation is really an argument against it?
My bias opinion as a fan yes it is worth watching. Especially episode 5.

Do you miss much by skipping it? Not really, it's 100 years before Phantom Menace but it does have some teases about setting up the prequel trilogy. However and we come to your last question it was cancelled unexpectedly and not set up as an event series so yes open ended, questions and mysteries left dangling.

Short of the Acolyte being retooled into a new series which is possible in the context of its cliffhanger but regarding its reception is less likely then there is little hope of a resolution especially considering the expanded universe content in that era is also ending. But then new Star Wars novels are once again no longer entirely canon as they have been contradicted more than once.

Has it an open ending
Technically yes, but we're given enough (imo) to see where things are headed. Not saying I didn't want more, because I did, but the ending we're left with kind of works as a de facto stopping point.

I liked this show because it did interesting things with the Jedi and foreshadowed the rot going on within the Order that lead to their inability to stop Palpatine and their own destruction. Also Carrie-Anne Moss played a Jedi and I will be forever grateful for that.

The lightsaber fights were awesome as well, loved the use of cortosis.

Qimir and Sol were the two best characters by a country mile. Qimir is the first Sith Lord in live action canon that doesn't have a Darth title, at least one spoken onscreen. I hope we get action figures of him soon. He's one of the few things on which both fans and critics of the series agree.
Yeah its a shame we wont here more of them.

Qimir didn't seem evil, he just wanted to be left alone by the jedi.

There's always hope for a Tales of installment. Not a lot of hope but not no hope.

I don't think Qimir's destiny lies with the sith either, I think he will abandon Plagueis and go for a no gods no masters kind of life, as opposed to try and kill and usurp his master's place.

I'd be down for a Tales entry if that remains the only on-screen option of continuing/concluding their story. Obviously I would much rather have another season of The Acolyte and I think Tales is too small of a format for the big ideas that show wanted to explore, but Tales would be better than nothing.
