So, going by the last post I observed (waited for the posts number to tick up by one, then hit "New Posts" quickly), this post is number 4,995,746 (ID 8829895). So the winning post should have the ID number 8834149.

Yea, I agree, posting has dropped off over the last few hours. I was a bit too optomistic.
Okay, new calculation! After observing and recording the post count and post IDs for a while, I've discovered that apparently the post ID goes up by 3 for each individual post.* (Why, I have no idea. 
) So I have now corrected my calculation, and it fits with my observations perfectly. The 5,000,000th post will be ID number 8842657!
* Seriously, click on any post ID number to open a single post, and then change that number in the address up or down by one or two, and you'll get an error. Change it by a multiple of three, and you'll find another post. Weird.

Barely 3,500 left. That's more than 700 in about twelve hours. At this current rate (if it stays at about the same per-minute) I'm guessing sometime on Friday night or Saturday morning, but we could have a major surge in posting and then who knows.
