The 25th Anniversary is Coming - Where is the book?

Calling all “Star Trek: Enterprise” fans!

Did you know the 25th anniversary of the pilot episode of “Enterprise” is just over two years away? Did you know that there have been behind-the-scenes/making-of books about the Original Series, the Animated Series, “Phase II” (which never even made it to air!), Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and Voyager, but NOT “Enterprise”?

Do you want to read a behind-the-scenes/making-of book about “Enterprise”? Sadly, the showrunner of its fourth (and some say best) season – Manny Coto – passed away just a few short months ago at the too-young age of 62. It would be nice if Pocket Books would honor his memory by publishing a 25th anniversary book about “Star Trek: Enterprise” in 2026.

If you agree, then it’s time for a new Star Trek letter-writing campaign (a time-honored Star Trek tradition; without it, the Original Series wouldn’t have lasted as long as it did). You can write to the Star Trek editors of Pocket Books and let them know you would buy a “Making of Star Trek: Enterprise” book if they publish it. Their address is:

Pocket Books
Simon & Schuster, LLC
1230 Avenue of the Americas
New York, NY 10020

But unless their editors get started now (it can take up to two years to create and publish a mainstream book), it may not happen at all. You can help! And so can your friends--pass the word! Let Pocket Books know there is an audience for this book. To paraphrase Picard, let’s be sure that history never forgets the series “Enterprise”!

I’d imagine something will come out eventually, with ENT being more popular than before.

For that matter, I expect The Autobiography of Jonathan Archer to be released in 2026 as well, seeing as there’s been a three-year gap between the releases of Picard, Janeway and Sisko, and the other captains (including Kirk) have been done already. That would be another way to honour Enterprise.

I wonder when the book will have Archer's father dying...

Seriously, I hope it's the "Cold Station 12" version when Jonny was 12. Tragic, and much more poignant.

New info about the show in book form could be fun but it's not something I really need or am expecting. I got enough making of/behind the scenes stuff with Inglorious Treksperts, The Fifty Year Mission, and The Shuttlepod Show. Brannon's been pretty candid about his time on Enterprise, and Manny and Sussman have had said their bits about their tenures in interviews or Sussman did those commentaries back in the day. I'd love to see Dom and Connor do a new podcast where they do recap reviews of the episodes. I'd love a "The Romulan War" animated series where the Enterprise crew make appearances, or Enterprise Season 5 comic book miniseries written by Sussman or the Reeves-Stevens or Brannon or anybody honestly.

Pocket books had financial trouble due to money problems was up for sale last year and Penguin books wanted to buy them they had people from the government go to court about preventing a merger with another company before someone else bought them out and the number of Star Trek books coming out the last few years. Three's only 4 or so Star Trek books coming out this year. Titan books has been doing books about the Star Trek tv shows and back story of the new and older series they might Do a the Archer Biography or one about Enterpise 25th aniversary.

It might be better to ask Titan Books, since they took over making the reference books from Pocket Books years ago.

I know Titan Books have been behind the autobiography series as well. Maybe they’ll handle both a BTS Enterprise book and the Archer autobiography.

I dare hope the prequel movie set decades before ST09 in the works might add something new.
Or at least feature events that Enterprise characters can be woven into novel lit, in the unlikely event the film does such onscreen cameos or name-drops.
