Kurtzmann never wrote any Star Trek episodes (although the two movies he's involved with have their detractors.)

Fuller wrote a few episodes for Voyager, twenty years ago. And they certainly weren't the worst in Star Trek history.

Judging Fuller on his Trek work is very unfair.
He was a junior writer at the time with no other work meaning most, if not all of his scripts would have been heavily rewritten. Wasn't exactly treated well by the Voyager crew either.
He's one of the best and most creative writers in television, a massive Trekkie and has no holds barred as showrunner of this series. We should be judging him on his work in Dead Like Me, Wonderfalls, Pushing Daisies and Hannibal, which give more than enough reason to be excited over this news, rather than some heavily tampered Voyager script from twenty years ago.
As for Kurtzman, I like to think he's a much better television producer than film writer. Fringe, co-created, executive produced and partly written by Kurtzman is one of the best modern sci-fi shows. Besides, he'll probably have very little involvement in the series as a whole. He'll probably be too busy directing The Mummy and working on other film projects of his to have much of a hand in the show, which will be controlled mostly, especially day-to-day, and helmed by Fuller, the much more talented writer of the two.

they never did specify what era the new show would be in.
Pushing daisies was nice while it lasted, and so was dead like me. But these shows were likable not from writing but from the cast.
Fringe was good, but after the 2nd season got convoluted, and eash season is officially considered its own separate seasons, not connected to the others.

I think you'll find most Fringe fans think it got better once it stopped being just a monster-of-the-week show.

Actually as fringe progressed through the seasons it got worse. I kept watching it because I was hooked and hoped it would get back to how it had started.
They pulled all the stops for the first season, and it worked. The creativity went lackluster in the second. I was almost ashamed to admit watching the last 2 seasons it got bad. Even Nimoy on it could do little to help. The final two episodes almost made up for the last two seasons.

Wow, I don't think I could disagree with this more. Season 1 was boring monster-of-the-week stories, but season 2 was better delving into the David Robert Jones storyline, culminating in season 3's alternating universes, that was the highlight for me. Though seasons 4 and 5 were still very good.
That's an odd statement, since Kurtzman is the boss and hired Fuller. Kurtzman's been involved since the show was announced. (As witnessed by the other threads discussing the show)
