This thread is bursting with excited potential.

Or pus.

Either way the key words are "warm" and "fluid."

The absolute worst thing about DISCO and PIC (at least for me) is the serialized format. Mind you, I thought I would enjoy it and that it was what Trek needed. But the format is too tight, at least for DISCO and PIC.

Typically in the past if we didn't like an episode, there was always next week. New week, new story. Not all stories appeal to everyone equally. But it's different with DISCO and PIC. If you don't like the story, you have to wait until next SEASON! Ugh. That's enough to give some fans sour grapes.

SNW is much more episodic. Sure, there can be an ongoing season arc, but each episode is more stand on it's own. Don't like a story? That's fine, tune in next week.

SNWs biggest sin is it's "too short a season."

10 episodes seems to be the new norm in Streaming. Picard was 10 episodes, SNW is 10 episodes, Mando is 10 episodes, Ashoka is 8 I think

DS9 and ENT did Trek story arcs well. DSC and PIC...not so much, with Season 2 of the latter being a complete mess that probably couldn't have been redeemed by any ending for that year's story.

TL;dr

The only way I could consider DISCOVERY and SNW to be in continuity with legacy Star Trek was if they were acknowledged to be set in a parallel universe / alternate timeline a la the Abramsverse.

But there are good ways to make this argument, and bad ways that damage the cause and others trying to make this argument against the current status quo party line.

I wish they would increase it to 13, like Discovery. I'm starting to think you can't tell a good serialized story in 10 episodes.

The moment the first few people came in trying to look "tough" by "challenging me, aka taking the side of the talentless hacks of paramount, the rest of you came in mindlessly so easily PEER pressured to copy the opinions of everyone else so you can fit in and be part of the crowd.

I suppose there's no true fan anymore.

Paramount releases garbage and says "you better watch this and like it", and all of you say "yes sir. Please love me. Please like me. I'll be peer pressured to do whatever you say and support you, and insult the real fans anytime I see one, and peer pressure the rest to do so also, just please let me fit in with the crowd and with the times, no matter which talentless hack happens to be running it".
How about less peer pressure to consider the new garbage Canon, and more self reflection.

Most of you here I assume grew up watching tos through ent. Most of you here surely knew how bad discovery was when it came out. Nothing made sense in that show. But look at all of you today. Peer pressured to like these shows just to fit in and get attention.

I don't care if we lived in a world where people would laugh at me, throw me down the spire of commerce on ferenginar, or execute me, I'd STILL get right in the faces of those talentless hacks and push them down in their place and bring back the best of the best from tng/ds9/voy/ent to replace them. But I suppose we live in a world of fear. Everyone wants to.be liked and fit in, and theyre afraid to agree with the person they KNOW deep down is rifht, simply because the challengers supporting the status quo outnumber us (because they were peer pressured into it anyway, which is sad)
This reads like someone winning imaginary arguments with themselves in the shower.
