If I were to judge Discovery's MU episode on their own merits, I would say they were awesome and I loved them. However when combined with previous Trek lore in particular with that of TOS, there are two little things that nag at me.
1.) That Terrans are more sensitive to light then their prime counterparts. I mean one would assume that Terra is identical to Earth including it's distance from it's sun. Also Terrans look identical to humans, rather then say big anime-eyed lemur people, so it's not as if their race is any more nocturnal to us, so why would they be sensitive to light? It's like some sort of hokey symbolism since they're suppose to be the 'evil' universe I guess but even serial killers can enjoy walks on the beach, and people who volunteer at homeless shelters might still go blind if they look directly at the sun.
2.)Perhaps the writers were inspired by *cough* recent events, wanted to empathize the Terran Empire's xenophobia, but you can have fascist colonial evil organization that rewards loyalty and ruthless action, whilst still being inclusive to aliens that are willing to 'play the game.' This seemed to be the case in TOS era (after all Spock was still the first officer) as well as in ENT. How absolutely Xenophobic the Terrans were in DSC makes it hard to believe that any self respecting Terran would hook up with a Vulcan, much less so the leader of a rebellion. You could always make the argument that she sympathized with the rebels but then I doubt her son would have ended up in the imperial fleet. So yeah how do you imagine Sarek and Amanda coming together in the MU?
