I guess that's why it was intended as a season premiere instead of a series premiere, because they'd explain it to us over the course of ~22 episodes. Wouldn't be all that great if we already knew the answer, would it?

I'm assuming that his trek into the future is the robot version of a vision quest. He isn't going to set things up, he's going to obtain spiritual catharsis and a more concrete understanding of his place in the world. Once he understands the future, and his place in it, he'll return to the present and prepare.

So I take it that Cameron in the future is a human, that possibly becomes John's love-interest (going back to the S2 premier, the "I love you and you love me" statement). Because the dog didn't "terminator react" to her when she bent down to pet it.

In any case, can't wait to get the news that S3 has been picked up. I wanna see where this goes now. Although I admit that a good portion of S2 was a bit of a drag. But I always thought that once we'd get the season 2 finale, events earlier on in the season would make a bit more sense.

I feel like they pulled the same thing that Enterprise's "Zero Hour" did. How could you cancel the show with such a crazy ending? I never bought Friedman's statement that the show could resolve on this ending. I was totally right.

^ They had a different ending filmed for the final scene of Zero Hour (at least that's what Bakula said) so if they didn't get a 4th season they could have closure. It was announced before the airing that they were getting another season so they went with the original cliffhanger ending.

Either way I'd say it's safe to say a PS3 could easily trump a super computer from 1989.

And vacuum tube based computers would always take up a huge building and use kilowatts of power, all without hitting the 1 MHz mark. I'm not really sure what your point is.

I still see this as more TATV than anything.

Plus, with Derek "dead", I doubt he'd be a full-time regular if we got an S3--instead I'd expect him to appear only in flashback/flashforward scenes.

    Not a good thing...

Of course, that ability was turned OFF by Skynet; that's the way it was written (it was afraid it become too smart, gain sentience and revolt, much like it did with the humans). In the Director's Cut, (in the gas station) John and Sarah open up Arnie, take out his chip, and turn the learning part on. In fact, all the scenes we've seen in TSCC of opening up a Terminator head are reminiscent of that scene.

Every Terminator we've seen so far though, has learned very little if at all; (especially compared to the massive speed with which Arnie learned once his learning capability was turned on.) It seems as if either these Terminator's can't learn, or their learning mode is off just like Arnie's was as written in T2.

This was a damn good episode though; TSCC gets better and better. I wonder if Sarah survived until that time. Maybe there's even an underground legend somewhere, because Sarah told it, that one day, the messiah would come; by the name of Joe Camra. (Legends get told, they change, eh?)

Now here's hoping for S3, because they can't leave it hanging like this!

Just saw the episode on TiVo last night. Loved it! They set up next season very well. I definitely want to come back and see what happens!

    Random thought I had:

The final scenes of Sarah saying "I love you too." What if John had already returned? Think about it - time has no meaning for John if he has a temporal transporter. He could have returned to the exact point he left from or a few seconds later. We did see some sparking in the background as Sarah said it.

it reminds me of a science fiction book called Santiago... about a hero type robin hood character who the powers that be kept trying to kill... kicker was they did kill him... just that the person next to him his second, became the next santiago...

this could happen with john conner... the original keeps dying. the next person becomes john connor... even a sentient terminator could become john connor. till skynet is defeated. john connor must die... but can't. even if he does.

I took that sparking to be just after the bubble had sent John and Weaver into the future, so Sarah was speaking with no John there to listen. This also makes the scene a bit more dramatic if John can't hear her confession of love.

I had the same thought when I first saw it, but its another possibility. Some fans are claiming she was saying it to Cameron...

Um, the Dread Pirate Roberts already?

Although, in the pisstake Casino Royal with David Niven and Woody Allen and Peter Sellers, they decided that since the bad guys are afraid of James Bond, that from then on, all of the secret agents would all be called James Bond simultaniously.

Haven't you ever thought that Gabriel Bell kinda looks like the Emmisary of the prophets?
