Tennant is done filming, Smith to start in a month and more (SPOILERS)

Re: Tennant is done filming, Smith to start in a month and more (SPOIL

the problem I have with a non regeneration story, is it will lead to the theory that Matt Smith is not really the Doctor
By that logic, because we didn't have a regeneration from McGann to Eccleston, then Eccleston isn't really the Doctor? Or because we didn't have a regeneration from Chris Baker into William Hartnell then Hartnell isn't really the Doctor? But because we had a regeneration from, say, Rowan Atkinson into Richard E. Grant, then Grant is really the Doctor?
I quite agree with that, however there was a reason we did not see that, my point is, if there is not a regeneration between Tennant & Smith, people (& by that I include myself) will wonder why, and start to come up with ever more crazy theories.

Re: Tennant is done filming, Smith to start in a month and more (SPOIL

allyn, Rowan Atkinson can't be the Doctor, by that logic, cuz no one regenerated into him

it is a really good job that we did see the 7th to 8th regeneration on screen, or some people will just never have accepted the 8th Doctor ;)

the problem I have with a non regeneration story, is it will lead to the theory that Matt Smith is not really the Doctor, I think we do need some sort of regeneration, again I know its a fantheory, but an aged 10th Doctor allows plenty of room for further adventures

I don't know... theres always going to be nutjobs like that. The types that say Chris Pine isn't the real Kirk. The solution? Give them a slap.

I don't know if they'll leave it open ended or not with all the legal hoopla between BBC films and TV and references and all that crap. But I have a feeling they'll just do something 'different' from the regenerations we've seen so far and until then we'll have a lot of fuss about nothing and another reason for me to never log in to OG.

I tend to agree, I get the feeling we might see something different this time, that said anything that isnt the standard regeneration FX would could be classes as "different"

To be honest, every regeneration so far has been a little different.

Re: Tennant is done filming, Smith to start in a month and more (SPOIL

Do you think maybe, Tennant would regenerate at the end of this Doctor Who movie and NOT at the end of the finale?

really so far we have had 3 regenerations

9th to 10th, you all know what that was like.

the Master regenerates into John Simm, pretty much the same as the Doctors 9th to 10th regeneration.

the 10th Doctor regeneration, again in the TARDIS pretty much standard into the hand comes into play, had the hand not been around it would have been the same as the previous two

there is nothing to say that there IS a movie

Well, er... no.

We've had the first Doctor "rejuvenation" into the second Doctor because his body "wore a bit thin".
The second Doctor being forced by the Time Lords to choose the appearance of his next regeneration (why he wanted to look like Jon Pertwee is anyone's guess).
The third Doctor fading into the fourth.
The fourth Doctor turning into a strange being known as the Watcher, himself turning into the fifth Doctor.
The fifth having hallucinations before turning into the sixth.
The sixth regenerating into the seventh off screen.
The seventh morphing into the eighth.
Romana trying on different bodies between regenerations.

well he isnt the real Kirk, he is a alt timeline Kirk, something the movie points out.

Well, er... no.
sorry I thought we were limiting the discussion to the new series
Why would we do that? If I wanted to illustrate how regeneration has been inconsistently portrayed, I'd certainly want to include the whole series!
fair point, can we at least agree that the new series regenerations have been similar, even the botched regeneration in Journeys End shared elements with the other two

Actually, the sixth regenerates on screen. he's just lying on the floor, face down, when it starts. His body is turned over mid regeneration so, we don't see the whole process.
It was the best they could do without Colin Baker.

Re: Tennant is done filming, Smith to start in a month and more (SPOIL

i bet the final Special ends with Ten going all glowy and then Moff's first opens with the glow fading and Eleven stood there.

Re: Tennant is done filming, Smith to start in a month and more (SPOIL

I would like to see Smith in the last specail, like we did Tennant at the end of S1, the only reason for the cliff hanger in Tennants botched regeneration, is that something other than a normal regeneration was about to happen.

hell if it was up to me, I would start the final specail with the regeneration, and then cut back to the events leading up to it.

Continuing this line of discussion will end up with a fanboy reaction ;)

Re: Tennant is done filming, Smith to start in a month and more (SPOIL

As for the fanboy reaction, I hope there isn't anyone out there that thinks Star Trek or Doctor Who is real? It would be nice but they are just TV shows and entertainment.

I think if there is a Dr. Who movie it would be a mistake, they should have done a movie this year instead of the specials. They will be doing the same thing Mr. Berman and CBS/Paramount did to Star Trek: multiple TV shows on at the same time (Dr. Who, Torchwood, & Sarah Jane) along with a possible movie and takes the chance of killing the golden goose for the BBC. At least they had enough sense to shoot down the proposed Rose spinoff proposed a few years ago.

Re: Tennant is done filming, Smith to start in a month and more (SPOIL

the Rose spin-off would have made a good one off, even more so now Tennant has a place in it.
