Tennant 5th season?

Thought you'd all like to know that David Tennant has 99% agreed to stay on board for a fifth season, however that will be it as he wants to leave Who on a high.
Steven is already thinking about the future of Dr Who and the 11th Doctor. He has a shortlist that he keeps adding to and taking away from (some of the names get mentioned on here a lot, but some would surprise you).
Cuyrrently the name at the top of his list is Matthew Macfadden
I googled the name, and the pic I got was someone who looks incredibly a LOT like David Tennant. If that's the aim they're going for, I will be greatly disappointed. I don't mind young. I know there's nothing that can be done about that in the modern market of television (at least nothing anyone is brave enough to do). But, I would hate to see another actor so similar to Tennant's appearance. Half the fun of regeneration is the complete overhaul itself.
Here's hoping they wouldn't cast so obvious...
I don't think they're very like at all, and acting wise they're very different Macfadyen is very understated in a Clive Owen kind of way, if it was him (big if) then we'd have a far less manic Doctor!!
I'm assuming you actually mean Matthew McFadyen. He was in the first 3 seasons of 'Spooks' / 'MI-5', a movie version of 'Pride and Prejudice', a guest appearance in 'Ashes To Ashes', and (my personal favourite) Stephen Poliakoff's 'Perfect Strangers' (in the USA, 'Almost Strangers'). If you haven't seen any of these, you should, not just for him. I think 'Strangers' is a great TV achievement.
He's a good, versatile actor, but looking at his resume, 'Spooks' is the only series he's made a long-term commitment to, and that was 3 years. I've also not see him really do a light or comedic role, and in that regard he might be a little serious for the Doctor.

He was also good in Secret Life, as a paedophile who was released before he felt he was ready.
Ugh, I really hope it's not Matthew McFadyen. I didn't like his Mr. Darcy (too dopey and boring). He was okay on Ashes to Ashes.
Going on the IMDB the spelling of his name seems to vary considerably! To be honest he didn't even make a 3 season commitment to Spooks, it was a two and bit season commitment. As for light and comedic, well his guest appearance in Ashes to Ashes was pretty ridiculous! But yeah aside from that he's pretty much done serious stuff.

You do realize I was speaking in terms of physical appearance alone, right? Physically (at least face-wise) they share very similar looks. I have no idea what his acting is like. But, I do know I don't want a Tennant Pt. 2 in appearance...
To be honest, I don't think they really look alike either. Maybe it's because I've seen the both in different roles, and not just going off stills. On one of the season 4 DVD set commentaries, Tennant refers to Moffatt as "my new boss" which could only be true if he's doing season 5. Case closed.
Or he could just be joking. All depends on how he said it, which we won't know until we can hear him for ourselves.
Or Moffatt's impersonation of Bruce Springsteen is really great.
