It's a bit Bewitched, really. Someone has this remarkable capacity to shift reality, but there's a Darrin who insists on living life as normal. Doesn't stop the one with the powers from using them from time to time for the benefit of everyone. I could see this working as a comedy, with tech replacing witchcraft. And no timelines would be harmed.

Discovery-era tech would work best. Plus all that future knowledge to draw from.
