Tech origin story

We've had Cochrane and warp drive, Erickson and transporters, Daystrom and duotronics. What piece of taken for granted Trek tech origin story would you like to see? How would it lend itself to a good storyline?

Replicators? Turbolifts? Synthale?

Replicators could make for an interesting origin story.

I'd like to hear the story of the Slaver stasis box found on the moon, which Spock describes in "The Slaver Weapon" had a rocket belt inside, which led to the creation of artificial gravity.

I've also suspected transporters were based on alien tech. Earth was way behind everyone else in the galaxy in Enterprise, but only they and (i think) the Klingons had transporters.

I liked the implication in the early seasons of Enterprise that Transporters were the one place where humans were ahead of the curve technologically, and they were rare-to-unheard-of for other species. But as the show went on, sooner or later we saw pretty much everyone else also had a transporter.

I'd love to find out more about the creation of the cloaking device personally. The first time one was used on a ship, and the first time an enemy encountered a cloaked ship.

Any storyline which did not include the Ship falling apart at the first shot, where the characters if possessed were not just put back on duty without any debriefing, and where Data could resist the first little electrical pulse without being disabled and not being commanded to commandeer the Ship by anyone. I'm SO tired of the writers position of crappy equipment and weak vulnerable characters.

Are you reading the same thread that I wrote? I was asking about the story behind Trek tech inventions, and which one you'd like to see.

My apologies for not making that more clear...
I'd like to see any episode which didn't include something going wrong with the ship/equipment, including the characters.
Ummm....just can't think of one at the moment.

Matter-antimatter reactor. Starting one up might have been a bit nerve wrecking on the first time.

Okay, one that involves seeing the -internals- of a ship under construction, and not just a mildly redressed set. Like seeing the bridge with the helm console missing and a portion of it exposed or such because they haven't been built/installed yet.

I think the closest we've come to that is that episode where Seven traveled back in time and was on Voyager before it launched.
