Tawny Newsome and Justin Simien developing new live-action Trek series

Jesus christ enough already, give us an Enterprise show that moves the timeline forward. I love SNW but it's not enough.

Legacy or bust.

Like goddamn, they cancel Lower Decks, end Prodigy, make a Section 31 movie staring fucking Space Hitler of all things... like I get Academy because they can reuse the sets from Discovery like how SNW started from reusing the sets from Discovery... but can't they reuse the sets from Picard and make Legacy already?

Why do they keep trying to make Star Trek for people who don't like Star Trek?

I'm sure I've pitched an ultra low budget Treks of Our Lives thing on this board before, they really should have gone with that.

This is gonna be an in-universe Big Bang Theory.

Why not just renew Lower Decks?

Why not just keep making Lower Decks?

just keep making Lower Decks

How do you know that this isn't a roundabout way to get more Lower Decks? Just in live action form.

Frankly, I'm onboard with this show. I've been feeling that Star Trek needs something set outside of Starfleet for a while now. At least its progression on the 25th century front. And thus leave the door open to guest appearances from legacy Trek characters.

If anything, this probably solidifies that Legacy will be greenlit. When has the Kurtzman era ever settled on producing a single show set in the same time period? There's always more than one - 23rd century had DIS S1-2 & SNW, 24th century has LD, PRO,PIC S1 and the upcoming S31 movie, and 32nd century has DIS 3-5 and the upcoming SA. The only time period left is the the 25th century, which is due for an expansion beyond PIC S2-3.

And if/when Legacy does get greenlit, how do you know that they won't share the same sets on occasion?

This show also it headed by Tawny Newsome, so I think it going to work out.

In Tawny We Trust.

Terry has written scenes with Seven and Jack. There's something going on behind the scenes.

Why the fuck would they do Legacy?

The fans have been screaming for it for two years.

There's more to it than just the children of the TNG crew. It can also be a character study of Seven (who possesses one of the most complicated psyches in Trek).

Seven started as a villain. She was evil incarnate for eighteen years. How does her past impact her command today?

Jack could be taken down a couple of notches, though, lest he become a Mary Sue (as knowledgeable and sophisticated as he is, there is a lot that he doesn't know -- ESPECIALLY about the Borg).

Jack seems to think he's best buds with Seven and Raffi ("A thief, a pirate, and a spy ..."). How long before Seven the Military Officer drops the hammer on him and puts him in his place?

SNW started from reusing the sets from Discovery...
The SNW standing sets were brand new, with the sole exception of the Bridge, which was clearly built with a follow-up series in mind, and even it was pretty heavily modified for SNW.

What sets? They were all destroyed, with the sole exception of the Enterprise-D Bridge. Certainly didn't help that they were build over 2000 miles away from where a potential "Legacy series" would be filmed.

Because the franchise is 60 years old and none of us are getting any younger. If you want Trek to survive, it needs new blood.
The fans have been screaming for it for two years.
Some fans. Certainly not all fans. Hell, at this point, it's mostly just "the cult."

A limited number of vocal fans, not "the fans."

Some kind of series or film set during the TNG era is likely, as SNW winds down in a few years. They've got two ways to go at that point - either nuTOS (very much my preference) or, given that they do seem to see value in servicing the core, aging fanbase, trading on TNG nostalgia for awhile rather than TOS nostalgia. Could go either way.

Are you even reading this forum and beyond? A shit ton of fans are DEMANDING Legacy.
I'm not one of them and even I know it's a thing.

Why the fuck not?

Alex Kurtzman acknowledged there is an appetite for Legacy, thats good enough for me.

This is not some small subset we're talking about here. It is far from universal, but it is FAR from tiny.
It's still a vocal minority.

The amusing thing is when you read what it is these fans want, and knowing that even if they were to get some kinda follow-up to Picard, it wouldn't even approach the pie in the sky ideas they're throwing around.

And thank God for that.

Well there is the thing about the characters being Federation outsiders.

Then again, assuming this resort is in fact in Federation territory, I guess there’s no reason Starfleet personnel wouldn’t be welcome there. We know Risa, for example, always welcomes Starfleet guests. As does Wrigley’s Pleasure Planet.
What does that phrase even mean? Are they from species that do not belong to the Federation? Are they people who just don’t fit in with Fed society? (Nerds Geeks Freaks et cetera ). If they are being filmed as part of some reality show/documentary a la the Office they probably aren’t some underground A-Team or straight up criminals.
