TAS made real....

The one in the upper row, center, reminds me a bit of a DS9 "RunAbout" .

The one in the upper right, well, I can imagine Zorak from "Space Ghost" piloting that mantis head looking craft.

Those ships from "The Time Trap" have always been in my "build these as a model someday" queue. I'll be interested to see what you do with them.

Just so you know this is the one I am currently working on. I made an error upthread—this is one of the designs that appears again (albeit coloured differently) in “The Jihad.” The onscreen version differs slightly in detail from this drawing, but it still lacks a lot of surface detail leaving me room for interpretation. The evident nacelles suggest other races also developed cylindrical warp nacelles while some alien designs sport no apparent warp nacelles at all. That this design appears later in “The Jihad” suggests that the developers of this ship type might be one of the other races featured in the episode besides the Vedala.

Are you going to fill in some details here and there or are you keeping it as screen accurate as possible? A lot of those designs seem a bit devoid of details.

Yes, I will be adding some extra detailing so it doesn't look so spare. Mind you I am also keeping in mind that even if something like this were made for TOS there is a limit to what they would have done with a miniature. Mind you TOS did have some decently detailed miniatures besides the Enterprise. The Galileo, the Klingon battle cruiser, the Romulan Warbird, deep space station K7 and the Botany Bay were all decently detailed miniatures for their purpose.

I agree, considering the resources they had back then they did really well with the models they've created. :mallory:

First pass at rendering to get a feel for it. There remain details to be added and final colouring has not been decided. I am generally pleased, but there are a couple of details on this I'm thinking of changing, particularly the pods set above the main hull--I want to modify their shape.

That right there is epic! I've always loved this ship and a few others from the triangle!

I'm not sure what else to do here. If this was an actual TOS miniature there is a limit to how much detailing they would have done given the ship would likely have been seen only briefly even if it did make a repeat appearance in anither episode. But we are indulging in a bit of fantasizing that they would have even bothered to make something like this.

It’s a bizarre configuration although in a way it’s reminiscent of the Grissom in STIII-TSFS where one part of the ship doesn’t look easily accessible from the other. This looks like something that could have appeared in a 1960’s or ‘70’s sci-fi or superhero comic book.

I might have put a small shuttlebay in the rear under the impulse engine along with some other equipment, like a tractor beam emitter or something. But yeah, other than that, there’s not a whole lot you could do with it.
