Tardigrade lawsuit appealed

Nothing yet. They will likely wait till close to the deadline I'd expect.

Will be interesting to see what they claim are the grounds for appeal... I don't think "judge was a meanie who is a discovery lover" is a valid legal ground for appeal.
Even IF they manage to submit the needed filings, it may be a couple of days before they're fully processed and appear in the public record of the case. Whatever the outcome actually is today, you may not see it online for a couple days.

If the lawyer yet again screws up filling out the form even though filing it on time (barely), does he get another chance?

Depends on the juddge. Of course since his lawyer can't even get basic things like make your pdf searchable right I have my doubts if today;'s filings will be proper

BREAKING Just hours before the Tardigrades case was to be dismissed, attorneys for Anas Abdin finally filed documents required for his appeal to move forward in his copyright case against the creators of Star Trek: Discovery. The filing was three weeks late. Full details in AxaMonitor Daily tomorrow morning.

That's up to the discretion of the court. Normally, the court allows attorneys to correct the deficiency in a timely manner but given the disrespect already shown by Abdin's attorneys, it's anyone's guess.

I still don’t get why he’s having such a hard time. Isn’t filing court documents what lawyers do?

The homophobic letter that Anas allegedly received is in handwriting suspiciously similar to his own.

Yeah, this is going straight up into conspiracy theories.

The only common letters in these two texts are the "e"s and "p"s. And they look like "e" and "p", as written by someone who learned to write in cursive. Which is half the population of the world. And even then, they're not that similar, the lower curvature of the "e" is notably different.

I'd much rather we not go this route, and "AxaMonitor" can go right together with "Midnight'sEdge" and all the other conspiracy shit in the trash can were it belongs.

Not really disagreeing, since handwriting analysis by professionals isn't without controversy, let alone some rando's on twitter, but nitpick: that ain't cursive. For cursive the letters in a word are connected. Those are block script. I know that because I can write in cursive but prefer block script.

In the latest AxaMonitor Daily:

  • Tardigrades appeal. Lawyers for Tardigrades game developer Anas Abdin finally filed two vital pleadings allowing his appeal to move forward, meeting a deadline by just hours that might’ve seen the case dismissed because the attorneys filed three weeks late. Learn what was in those documents (juicy!).
  • Skeptics doubt threat. Abdin’s post Thursday showed homophobic hate mail he claims came from Star Trek: Discovery fans went viral, with hundreds tweeting their support. Trouble is, according to one skeptic, the handwriting in that threat looks reeeeeeeally familiar. See for yourself.
  • Justifying appeal. We’ve got details in Abdin’s appeal of a federal judge’s order to dismiss his copyright infringement lawsuit because he failed to make a case. His lawyers give four reasons why the suit deserves to go to trial. How well do those points hold up under scrutiny? Read our analysis.

This is not cursive, but it's written by someone who learned to write in cursive. You can see additional lines leading to the connection points, like the double line on the "p". That's why they look vaguely similar. But not the same.

For anything more insightful you'd need a real expert, not some random guy from the internet drawing circles on pictures.

YouTuber Nerdrotic leads $20,000 GoFundMe Campaign to Fund Anas Abdin’s Appeal in U.S. Second Circuit Court

After seeing his copyright case against CBS and Netflix over Star Trek: Discovery dismissed in federal court last month, Tardigrades game creator Anas Abdin is appealing, with a YouTube conspiracist leading a $20,000 GoFundMe campaign to pay for the appeal.

The appeal was formally filed in U.S. Second Circuit Court of Appeals on October 1 by Abdin’s attorney John Johnson, though court filings do not yet cite the legal basis on which Abdin is appealing the dismissal by federal district Judge Lorna G. Schofield. Read more »

Okay, can we seriously stop this spam?

This guy is a one-topic advertisement account, producing hundreds and hundreds of posts in different threads all only about ONE topic, his own crappy conspiracy website, always copy-pasting his latest text without adding anything insightful in his posts, always ending with Read More and sign up for his shitty newsletter and then "answering" questions as if this here were his own website, only to vanish for a week and then do the same crap with his newest article again.

I wouldn't mind @carlosp linking to his own website every once in a while. But this level of advertisement is just shameless.[/QUOTE]

It's hardly spam if each of the posts linked by you have new, pertinent information, no? The first one was about the lawsuit having been appealed (which was merged here because he hadn't seen someone had already posted it) and contained valuable information on the appeal process itself.
The second one was about a looming deadline that was important to the lawsuit and contained info on what was missing in the filings.
And the last one contains an update on the former which includes a link to the actual filings from yesterday, a mention of someone's doubts about the authenticity of the threads, and info about a hitherto unknown detail from the last case, again in the form of actual court documents.

I like his posts because they usually include sources allowing me to read up on the actual court documents and on info on how lawsuits work, which I find invaluable. I wish all "spam" looked like that.

Maybe it's Dan Fielding.

I always said it was too bad they didn't make his character on BOSTON LEGAL be Dan Fielding. A little more mature with age. But I'm sure it would have been a pain in the ass for the rights, having to pay Reinhold Weege for every episode he was in.
