Syfy's Dominion

Morpheus 02

Rear Admiral

ANyone watching this? i saw the last 1/2 hour, and now the first 15 minutes...this is really stupid.

"Chosen one"?

Seems like thisis aimed to people want some kind of horror show, and want something "spiritual" but too lazy to read the original texts.

This series is a sequel to the movie Legion, set 25 years after the film.

10 minutes in, and I am not a fan.

Christopher Egan is why I passed on Kings a few years back, when actually everything else other than he was incredible.

Ah..that helps explain why they might want to do this...

I wish they would do sequels to properties that might be more interesting, like "War of the Worlds" (TV series) or ...i can't think right now...but i'm sure lots of other stuff (which could include repeats of past properties)

I passed on this. I get enough angel at war stuff on Supernatural as it is.

The premise of this could just as easily been a spinoff of Supernatural if that show ever decided to shake up the status quo.

Personally, I think that the most improbable aspect of the show was the idea that Las Vegas could be any kind of refuge post apocalypse. If civilization ever fell Las Vegas, more than any city on earth, is doomed. That city can only exist because of a robust infrastructure artficially maintains it. Without a steady shipment of food, canals, and maintenance of the Hoover damn, Vegas reverts back to the desert from whence it came. Hell that may happen anyway once the west eventually runs out of water.

I found it to be rather dark and ponderous not unlike the movie and I'm not sure how it will sustain itself as the series progresses. I might follow it but I could see it fading off my viewing list. That said, I'm digging Syfy going a bit more mature with these series though I can't imagine what they're going to do with Spartacus(!) when that airs.

Yeah, the addition of Spartacus really baffled me. I guess they'll just have to obscure all the nudity, because if they cut it I don't think they'd lose quite a bit of show, and some important events in the story.
As for Dominion, I enjoyed it. I wouldn't put it up there with Revolution, Defiance, The 100, or Falling Skies, but it's got potential.

Suit: "Anthony Head, Big fan, big fan, a pleasure to meet you, can you do an American Accent?"

Head: "No."

Suit "Who gives a shit, just put something together over the weekend."

One of Head's earliest acting jobs here in the States was a series of Maxwell House coffee commericals where he did indeed have an American accent.

I guess nobody told Stephen King that when he wrote The Stand. ;)

Was anyone else surprised by the nudity?

At this point no. They tease you in the first episode and then claim the network stepped in to explain why its never seen again. I was surprised that male and females did not acknowledge it or even try to sneak a peak when the soldiers showered together

If you get naked around co-workers on a regular basis it becomes routine and boring. After a few months you are no more likely to sneak a peak at them than you would with a sibling or old friend.

Is the Sci-Fi (SyFy) channel still in business?

This is the channel that renamed themselves after a slang term for a Sexually Transmitted Infection - Syphilis?

Yeah, makes sense.
