SyFy cancels Eureka

Weird that I swear I just saw an add on Scy-Fy that was promoting the "New" season. Just maybe an hour or 2 ago.
It being canceled doesn't mean they'll stop airing the new episodes.

I believe there are still 18 episodes to go.

Which, in itself, is a longer run than most scifi series get! :)

Unfortunately your numbers are way off.

We're not watching a new season right now.

This is the second half of the same season we had all that Baltar 1949 shenanigans, oh so smegging long ago.

s04e15 aired last week.

Which means that we should have had 5 episodes left, which has been extended to 6 for the sign off.

My understanding was that in additional to the five episodes of this season left, the first thirteen of season 5 had just been filmed, and season 5 is getting a 14th episode.

Well, "cancelled" was probably not the right word to throw around. "Winding down in a year or so" is more accurate.

We still have one full season to go, and another Christmas special.

Which, again, makes all the torches and pitchforks seem a bit extreme.

"Death to Syfy channel" . . . really?

I think the problem is less that the show is ending and more that they didn't give the writers any warning that it was ending so they could wrap things up...

And now they're getting a chance to wrap things up, so again, the torches and pitchforks aren't necessary.

Well, they may be getting a chance to wrap things up, but according to this tweet from Co-creator/Executive Producer of Eureka, Jaime Paglia, they only have four days to write the wrap-up episode.

Never got into the show myself, but people keep telling me it's great. Too bad SyFy had to go and cancel it ...
