This new change not only completely ruins that build up, but reminds me of EPIII hilarity and sounds like they just took two previously recorded prequel James Earl Jones cuts and stuck them in for a youtube joke vid. If only that were so.
I'll just enjoy my shitty DVD transfers.
I wonder if it's possible that Lucas turned up at James Earl Jones' house and told him what scene he was planning to insert audio into and Jones basically said "No.....Noooooooo!"
And Lucas stood up and said, "that'll do nicely James" and walked out with his pocket recording device?
They actually got James Earl Jones to record the lines, by accident.
*phone rings*
"Hello Mr.Jones, we'd like for you to come in and record a few more dialogue samples for Darth Vader for the new Star Wars Blu-Rays."
"Nooooo."
"I'm sorry, what was that?"
"I SAID NOOOO! STOP CALLING ME!"
*hangs up*
"He hung up...did it record ok Ben?"
"Hah, I got it!"
Aren't guilds supposed to stop their members' work from being destroyed (which it will be, since Lucas refuses to release the original and altered versions), regardless of what corporation owns the work?
The nerds have been heard! Deadline has picked up the story.
One of the commenters raises a good point: why isn't the Director's Guild of America doing something to stop Lucas from frakking with movies (ESB and ROTJ) that are other directors' artistic products? Aren't guilds supposed to stop their members' work from being destroyed (which it will be, since Lucas refuses to release the original and altered versions), regardless of what corporation owns the work?
If Richard Marquand wanted his actor to wreck a scene by whining noooooo at a pivotal moment, that was his call to make, not Georgey boy's.
*facepalm*Nobody would be complaining if the "Nooooooooo!" had been in there all along.
Who is? Got a link?People that have seen early copies are saying that it wasn't fixed.
This is looking like another rush job.
You're right.^Exactly.
Here is a good article saying that the changes aren't bad ones, or at worst, inconsequential to the story being told. Which has always been the case with Lucas' "changes" to the films.
Is this definitely not the case?
Several clips of the Blu-Ray have leaked out
As someone who's seen every version countless times, I'm kinda looking forward to discovering the latest round of changes; It keeps things interesting.
As to those who equate a man altering his own creation to the raping of an entire childhood, you may have more important things than a cantina shootout to lament over never getting back.
Several clips of the Blu-Ray have leaked out
there's probably a "purported to be" missing there...
Why mess with a scene that was perfect? Vader sells that scene by not saying a word. It's a bad storytelling decision to have him spell it out to the audience.
