You know, "for an entire generation" audiences watched the original unaltered Star Wars trilogy on TV and VHS and absolutely loved it. I have the OUT on DVD. And I still love it. At this point, any "lack of quality" that people complain about from the OUT is really the preservation of the original film. There's a distinct nostalgia to be gleaned not only from the preservation of the original incarnation of the film, but from the "original" quality of the film itself. You want the OUT, find the 2006 DVDs on ebay, buy them, and enjoy.
Otherwise, if you want some newfangled HD presentation, put up with the "new" vision from GL -- including the changes made for the '97 SEs, the '04 DVDs, and the '11 BRs. Time for people to get over their outrage at changes. They are here. They aren't going away. And if you don't like them, simply stop buying each new incarnation of the saga.
