Supernatural Season Six: Worth another shot?

I'll admit, I got into the show late, probably late season three. Loved season four and five. Then the 'final' season got renewed and I felt the fifth season's build up to a final end was cheated.

I began watching season six but it felt like something was missing (don't say Sam's soul...). Gave up after a few episodes.

So anyway nothing from the 2011 season is grabbing me so far, season seven has just started and I feel like giving it another shot. Have popped in 'All Dogs Go To Heaven' (ep 8?) for a look see. Feels like old times so far. Does the season stay true to the first five? Go in a different direction but still good? Not worth it?

Just checking. :)

Season 6 isn't as good as season 4 or 5 but I still enjoyed it. There are some good episodes, I especially enjoyed The French Mistake and Frontierland

I found it to be surprisingly enjoyable. I don't think it was as good as Seasons Two, Four, or Five, but it was still worthy enough to hold my attention for the whole season. I think it stays true to the first five seasons; the look, feel, and tone are still there.

I thought S6 was alright. The only problem with is that it really didn't have a main villain and took a long time to get going. But the last few episodes are great.

Did you see season one and two yet? Maybe it's time to check out the early years...

I'm in the middle of watching Season 6 on telly (having forgotten to pre-order the boxed set) I'm loving it!

Definitely give it another shot, and I agree on the post about watching it from the beginning. If you don't want to buy the BOXED series than try to watch in on TNT. ;)

Though I thought Season 5 would be a good endpoint for Supernatural and fear for the show's fate if it doesn't settle on an end date, I recommend that you give Season 6 a shot. I thought it interesting and the whole RoboSam goes on for just half a season. Sam goes back to normal after that...for the most part. There are also other things going on in Season 6 that makes it a very dark, emotional season.

I think Season 6 works better when watched in a marathon instead of week to week. The main plot arc seems to be incredibly disjointed, going in several different directions, when you watch just one episode a week. It isn't until the end when you notice that its actually very tightly plotted and everything actually tied together perfectly, because the show keeps you end the dark about pertinent details that connect everything until the last three episodes.

I just ordered the DVD set. I really only watch this show on DVD, and reruns that are on while I'm at the gym (it's a pretty easy way to waste 30 minutes on the treadmill!)

So I'm looking forward to checking out this season, even if it doesn't sound like it's top-notch.

I liked Season Six. The first half was a little too standalone-y after the epic last few years, but I still enjoyed it. Having just recently seen the earlier years for the first time, I would say that S3-5 was the best, though.

Yes it did you and many others didn't realize it. Opps sorry.

It's funny (and I liked it the first time I watched it, what can I say I am a dog person). But I think All Dogs go to Heaven is either the 2nd or 3rd worst episode of the season.

I don't like it much in repeat viewings.

As for the show it does feel off, and it should for the first 11 episodes, instead of being really being told through both characters eyes, most of the first half of the season is told from Dean's point of view (yeah TWOP suck on that). Even if Dean is reacting to the changes in Sam, it's still Dean driving the episodes. I think its really interesting to see how this character reacts to it.

Yes it did you and many others didn't realize it. It wasn't Eve, and it wasn't Crowley, it was Castiel.

He isn't a moustache twirling Bad Guy, just a guy who's driven by hubris and does wrong, but he was the villain. They tried to show that in all appearances he made.
Um, spoilers much? The OP is only just now watching the season.

I have seen the first two seasons, went back and watched them after five.

And yeah, appreciate minimum spoilerage please, haven't seen this yet (although I do know what happens to Castiel in the finale. Damn stupid internets).

Oh and saw "Caged Heat" last night as well. Loved the Castiel/Porn story.

"That pizza delivery man sure does like that babysitter..."

"So that's what you do. Sit int eh dark watching Porno's with an Angel"

Castiel "We aren't suppose to talk about it".

Season six is the only season of the show I've had zero interest in rewatching. It was consistently bland with about only two really good episodes. To me the storytelling was aimless and the build up non existent then dropped in your lap abruptly in the last 3 episodes. I also thought the brother dynamic was repetitive and overly angsty. The big bad was lame, the new characters sucked and the standalones episodes were weak. And the episodes that should have been easy winners like "Frontierland" were turned into dull routine episodes.

So in my opinion it isn't worth another shot.
