The Instagram post makes me sad.

Well, we all kinda knew this , but it's official: Jensen gets to keep the Impala.

For 15 seasons (including the final one, which will resume on The CW in early October), brothers Sam and Dean Winchester have been fighting evil. Because Dean (played by Ackles) is afraid of flying, the two move around from location to location in his Impala, which he often refers to as his “baby.”

Because of this, the Impala has become the third leading character on the show, joining the not-so-long list of iconic TV cars. If you were thinking you had a chance at snapping it up at auction once Supernatural wrapped, think again: Ackles gets to keep it.

There were several, of course, so maybe they'll give him the one most road-worthy.

He commented on this issue in his recent podcast with Michael Rosenbaum. He said there were two but that he was getting the better one (the one in all the "hero" scenes). He also said Jared was offered the beat up one. Jensen's plan is to add some air conditioning and a functional radio and keep all the interior nicks and door squeeks.

I remember Jensen mentioning something about "Baby #1 was for 'hero scenes', Baby #2 was for stunts (and was crap & beat) and there was Baby#3 (which Jared should take)". It was in an article, perhaps on EW or the like, around the time the episode "Baby" aired.

Happy Anniversary, Supernatural! Yesterday was the 15th anniversary of the pilot's first airing. TNT is showing a random assortment of "greatest hits" episodes from 9 am until 2pm Central.
