Supernatural, season 11 *SPOILERS!*

I still believe that Jodi and her girls would make for a fantastic spinoff, but that episode did not quite live up to the vision in my head. Pretty darn average sums it up well.

I'm disappointed that we didn't get a scene between "Castiel" and Claire. Hell, she didn't even ask about him.

The only sort of spin-off of Supernatural that I could see working is one featuring Castiel and Crowley. Anything less than that just wouldn't work, mostly because the whole show really is about Sam and Dean. Cas and Crowley just happen to have ridiculous amounts of on-screen charisma, so they could pull it off, largely because they've pretty much been regulars for however many seasons.

Oh, I am so over Castiel. That character has been little more than background decoration since season 7. Crowley is a little better, but his character is overplayed too.

If you're tired of them this (relatively) quickly, why should you be okay with any of the lesser characters being mains in their own show?

The Powers That Be over at Supernatural released this little video for the next episode. It's certainly far more interesting than the teaser they showed for it.

You might have missed the "relatively" part. If you're growing tired of interesting characters with extreme levels of on-screen charisma after only a few years, I really don't know why you think you wouldn't grow tired of significantly less-charismatic characters and actors even more quickly.

Did I hit a nerve there? If you want to post on a forum you're going to have to realize that people have different opinions than you.

Anyway, I do like Cas as a character, but my problem with him is that the writers haven't done anything with his character since the Leviathan arc. He's a very popular character, so the writers either give him uninteresting subplots such as Hannah or Claire to give him screen time or they joke that he's hanging around the bunker watching Netflix. The best thing to happen to his character in years is getting possessed by another character who is going to get shit done.

I do still like Cas, but if the writers haven't been able to come up with anything interesting for him in to do in four seasons I can't see a spinoff working. And it's because I like Cas that I hope they permanently kill his character off this season to give him an ending rather than keep stringing the character along for many more seasons to come just because he's popular. His character is awesome and Supernatural wouldn't be the same without him, but that's over now. Let's put the character to rest.

As for Crowley, well, I think the writers focus on him too much, but I do enjoy having him around as a recurring character.

No, if any nerves were hit, it was yours. (And if you think this is the first forum I've ever posted on just because I'm new here, that just demonstrates how painfully naive you are.)

I think I was pretty clear in what I said. And your most recent reply makes it even more baffling, since now you apparently like both characters and, inbetween the lines, admit that they could be better if the writing was more focused on them (ie, them having their own show). Nevermind that the whole sub-conversation started because you groaned at the idea of them having their own show and were tired of them. But hey, now that your poor logic was pointed out, you suddenly like and enjoy them again. Funny how that worked out.

ANYWAY.......

TNT is running a day-long marathon of season 10, if anyone would like to watch something other than football today.

I said that the writers focus too much on them and that I absolutely do not want them in a spinoff and you interpret that as me admitting they'd be better if the writing focused on them more? That's the complete opposite of what I said.

Okay, let me repeat this one more time. Castiel was supposed to die in his first season, but was kept around due to his insane popularity. As a result a character with a short shelf life has been kept in the show despite having no role to play in said show for way too long. I want Castiel to die and never come back. I want Crowley to have a vastly reduced role on the show or be killed off.

Castiel was also a completely different character in his first season. I never noticed this until my recent rewatch on Netflix. They've just made him sillier and more childlike over the seasons, comic relief. While the first season he was in he didn't feel like that at all.

He was just another angel in the first (fourth) season, it was his experiences with the brothers that changed him and introduced him to humanity in a new and fundamental way.

I'm watching "Into the Mystic" right now. Sam is going by Agent Butler--what musician is that supposed to be??

Who knows? There's a lot to choose from: Geezer, Richard, John, etc. My guess would be Geezer (Black Sabbath) or knowing Sam's taste in music, possibly Richard (Psychedelic Furs).

No, it was Geezer--Dean was Agent Osbourne. Not much of a Black Sabbath fan myself.
