Spoilers "Superman & Lois" Season 2

I thought The Amazing Spider-Man did a decent job rationalizing the Spidey suit by showing Peter shopping for high-end athletic gear online. It wasn't a perfect rationalization, but it was more than the Raimi films ever bothered with.

You're probably thinking of Andrew Garfield's first Spider-Man costume. That had a pretty basketball-ish texture.
Yeah, that sounds right.
I think the reason for the texture is because the designers feel it's more visually interesting on the larger feature film screen, or on the big, high-resolution TV screens we have these days. With more image resolution, they feel they have to add more detail. Also it's probably that modern techniques allow creating more intricate fabric patterns and textures more easily than in the past, and designers like to play around with that. It's not just superhero costumes -- look at how the Starfleet uniforms in the Kelvin movies and the current shows tend to be made from fabric textured with lots of little Starfleet arrowheads or department insignias.

And in some cases, they want to suggest that the supersuits are some kind of advanced high-tech material rather than just cloth or spandex.
I can see wanting to do something more visually interesting than just spandex, but I think some of them of just gone a little overboard with some of the designs.
That's awesome!

Given that the CW is killing Stargirl, have we heard anything on S&L?

Only rumors at this point--some predicting S&L will be cancelled at the end of its forthcoming 3rd season, others focusing on the idea that HBO would pick it up, etc. DC--or rather Berlanti's DC shows are quickly becoming a thing of the past in one way or another.

Hopefully HBO picks it up, but doubt it.

I'd be shocked if S&L goes beyond the next season with the changes at CW and with Cavill back in play.

Cavill's return is such a seismic plus for WB that it is possible the PTB believe they have their one and only live action Superman, and Hoechlin is not the one.

I'm going to put my money on cancellation or a faint possibility of season 4 on the WB. With the news of a new Superman film and comments from the company earlier this year, I will be surprised if they want two Supermen on screen.

If season three is the last, I'll be glad to have gotten this much. My only other request is that they know they're done for before they film the last episode.

Yeah, I don't get the sudden obssession with giving superhero costumes weird textures that designers developed about a decade ago.

As someone else mentions - it's to do with the arrival of 4K - designers had to change a whole range of things they use to do that made sense in lower resolutions and with less peak brightness.

So with Cavill back does this mean the end of the two other Superman shows or movies? One with a black Clark Kent and the other one with the Superman from another universe with a different name who replaces the Kent Superman of that universe when he gets killed.

It was being made and I think assumed by Michael B Jordan who would play the role? I was really excited about the second one. Big fan of the actor and I know how much he likes the character and the universe.
