Superman and Lois
Season 1 - Episode 7 - "Man of Steel"
Clark/SM / Lois: At the Fortress, Clark learns from holo-pop that Jordan needs to train himself to not allow enhanced sounds to affect him...
Clark feels he should tell the kids about...everything, including Marcus (Luthor) , and all other threats in town. Lois disagrees, reminding him that they moved from Metropolis to get them away from the abnormal...
Clark sneaks into Luthor's camper, and his A.I. speaks--assuming its Luthor by name (this will be briefly touched on in one of Luhor's flashbacks), startling Clark. When Luthor returns, the A.I. informs him that Clark was there, but somehow, the villain believes he's of no importance...
Luthor meets with Lois, but his warnings about Edge trying to build a super-powered army are not too convincing, and unless he comes clean, she's not interested in meeting him again.
On the road, Clark and Lois discuss Luthor, wondering if he's related to the Luthor they know; Lois quickly notes that with what they know about the multiverse, anything's possible. They trail Edge's men transporting X-Kryptonite, but Clark's telescopic vision reveals Luthor up ahead, blocking the road with his camper...waiting...
Luthor aims a rifle at the men in the truck, ordering them to get on their knees. He breaks into the truck and steals a container filled with X-Kryptonite, snapping back at Lois for disbelieving him. He claims he needs to meet Superman as the only way of stopping Edge, asking Lois to arrange the meeting. Creepily staring at Lois, he asks if she trusts him, and she replies, "with my life."
At home. Lois finally agrees wih Clark--they should tell the kids everything.
Jonathan / Jordan Kent: Jordan resists training, and when he tries, he fails, adding to his depression.
At school, Jonathan defends Jordan's "lies" to Sarah, but quickly cops a hurt attitude when she fails to ask about his hand. He storms off, acting a bit more jealous than he should...at least until he gets the attention of a couple of girls in the hallway.
That said, Jonathan innocently tries supporting Sarah--just as Jordan (at home) finally focuses his hearing at school (via his phone) overhears them talking, and assumes he's been betrayed by both...
Later, Jordan accuses his brother of flirting with Sarah, angering Jonathan, who goes down the list of how he's always had his brother's back, defending him against criticism, etc., him and warns him to never spy on his again.
Jordan apologizes to his brother. and bond over that crazy drive to save their father. The parents overhear this, and promise not to keep secrets from them--only with the promise that what they share never leaves the house....
Capt. Luthor: Lois confronts Luthor, demanding a meeting on neutral ground, revealing she knows he's not who he claims to be. Luthor stares after Lois like the stalker he is, thinking back to his own world where he had happy times with Alt-Lois and their daughter, only to watch as that world's Superman--and other caped characters--destroyed occupied city buildings with heat vision...
Later, he has another flashback of Alt-Lois on the job, and being killed by Alt-Superman (note the on-screen info "Kyptonian Weakness Discovered"). He recalls creating the armored uniform with his daughter, while in the present, he working on a special weapon...
Superman confronts Luthor, and after the stranger spills more of his lunacy about the "real" threat, he attacks Superman--stripping his powers with a series of red sun lamps, and large, reflective hammer. At the same time, the DOD informs Lois that Luthor's fingerprints match that of a solider who died six years ago...a soldier named John Henry Irons (AKA Steel, or course). Panicking, Lois races off...
At the Kent home, Jordan suffers another attack--and hears Superman being beaten by Luthor. Alerting his brother, the duo drive the truck, with Jordan using his super-hearing to trace the site of the battle...
Irons taunts Superman, promising to kill him, and the moment he tries to deliver the blow, the boys crash into Iron's shed, hitting the man, sending him flying across the room. Following his father's request, Jonathan uses the hammer (struggling), to shatter the generator of the red sun lights. Recovering, an enraged Superman is a moment away from super-punching Irons, until he's stopped by Lois.
With Irons in custody at the DOD, Superman asks that no one question him until Sam Lane returns in the morning. Alone in a cell, Irons continues to hear the voices of the past, this time the day he promised his daughter that he would kill Kal-El and return--which did not happen.
Edge/Larr: Being irresponsible, Luthor now has Edge and Larr investigating him, with Edge demanding Larr get to the bottom of this mystery man...
Edge gives Lana a job--to create a "young executive" program, using five select people. As it turns out, Larr and Edge are using them as guinea pigs for his X-Kryptonite army...
Kyle/Lana/Sarah: Lana agrees to help Lois--looking out for anything suspicious, such as anyone with powers (mentioning Larr), etc. Lana is suspicious of the program (considering what Lois told her), and is shaken when one of her friends announces that Edge selected her for this program...
NOTES:
Now that "Luthor" is not a real Luthor (capped off with Clark and Lois not recognizing or knowing about any other male relative), all of the social media voices who (pre-series premiere) were in anguish over "black Luthor" must be breathing a sick sigh of relief.
As noted several episode ago, the biggest problem with Irons is that his entire reason for being on this earth is nonsensical at best. He knows another world's Superman is not the one from his planet, does not share the same background or environment which made them distinct personalities, so his obsession with projecting his vengeance / pain to an innocent...and his stalker behavior toward Lois makes him foolish, but unsympathetic as well.
At least things really get moving in the next episode, where (among other events) Superman interrogates Irons.
