He didn't take Jonathan because he--and Lois--assumed he did not inherit the powers. Regarding learning about his family history, Jonathan never appeared to be too interested in that side of his life. He's fairly well adjusted and not seeking answers beyond what his parents share with him.
I still would have taken him. He seemed a little jealous that he didn’t go.
Have you met Lois Lane?
I actually thought the portrayal of Lois throughout was the very best thing about this second episode (not that it wasn't great overall). At this rate, Amy Adams may well have competition for Best Live-Action Lois Ever.

Chrissy Beppo looks like a promising addition to the cast of characters, bringing a little more lightness to the proceedings.
Hoechlin, as always, was born for this gig. He personified Clark with perfect, unforced ease from his opening moments on Supergirl, and that continues here.
Before this series Tyler and Bitsie were always very good. But were really guest stars on other people’s shows. Not much time or material to develop their characters. But now...
I am stunned by how great they are. Much has been discussed about the actors ages versus the characters ages. But seeing them here the reality is meaningless. They feel like a real married couple who have been together for many years. Feel like real parents too.

Superman & Lois has been renewed. Apparently the woeful ratings discussed earlier for the pilot were the CW's largest audience for that time slot in two years. And it was also the network's third-largest recent series premiere since Batwoman and Walker, although that's not saying much.
It’s not surprising it got renewed if Batwoman was also. Apparently it did well on the DVR front
So, the boys are supposedly twins, right? Are we thinking they split their power set? Jordan got all the tools, but Jon got the batteries? Might be interesting to see a situation where they can only be Super together.
Or could we be seeing something more like early Kon-El? Where Jordan's powers only LOOK like Clark's, but are actually something else altogether? I feel like using the heat vision probably rules out that possibility, but it crossed my mind all the same.
I've enjoyed this show so far. Hoechlin really nails the Clark vibes, and Tulloch is fantastic as Lois. I even like the dynamic between Clark and Sam Lane, it feels more nuanced than that relationship is usually portrayed. Though I fear for developments as the season progresses.
I wonder how heavily Luthor's world will borrow from Injustice Superman. It certainly doesn't have to, but in some ways it might make the game's cameo more fun than just being a way to set up their "Superman is boring" gag.

Agreed, except that there are problems with the first Reeve Superman.
It's a good thing this isn't one then.
I used to work in internet tech support. Believe me: people put their modems and routers in odd places.
George Reeves was perfect in the part. So is Cavill, so is Hoechlin. Routh...meh. No opinion on Kirk Alyn, never saw more than a couple of minutes.
Superman is challenging to cast, but not ridiculously difficult. The studios have made it seem nearly impossible on several occasions mainly because when these things became big budget affairs they started looking for someone who was both good in the role and also brought a following and was hopefully "bankable." The Salkinds and their directors bounced back and forth seemingly forever between movie stars and guys they thought "looked right" before splitting the difference and doing big name casting for everyone they could except the leads.
Anyway, everyone on this show is really damned good.

Am I the only one who is tired of the "A seemingly intelligent girl who has a borderline psychopath as her boyfriend, while justifying herself 'you don't know him, he can be very sweet'"'s trope? And obviously his friends are jerks too. Of course they are setting the scene for her to leave him in the future and go with one of Clark and Lois' boys, but this time I think they a little overdid it.
Truer words have rarely been spoken. Reeves was as much an utter, effortless natural in the role as Hoechlin is.
Think of how tired all the smart girls in these relationships are of it all. A lot of them have a couple of kids by the time they decide to dump him. Then he goes on reddit and joins -

I mean, my major problem with the series is the writers aren't even bothering to explain what Sarah sees in him. They are asking us to believe that she is like him so much even if she admits that he is a violent jerk. At least in Stranger Things they show us why Nancy is no fascinated with the local bully/jock. Here? Not so much.
We have only seen 2 episodes and you already have a problem that the romantic relationship of a supporting character has not been explained yet?
Because of the pandemic, the entire main cast of the series - including Wole Parks - was in place when they started filming the Pilot.
The writers are doing a good job so far given that the pacing and structure of this show is very traditional - it's not cutting between moments in various characters' lives or doing a lot of flashbacks or a lot of bridging with first-person narration like, oh, Euphoria (which, for no good reason, comes to mind often while watching it).
I wonder if they won't have trouble maintaining the rather more mature dramatic focus and themes of the stories as episodes go by. The natures of the protagonists and central characters - Lois and Clark - will make that really difficult. To support the struggles and validate the POV of characters like Jordan and Sarah and Jonathan, who right now are appealing and easy to identify with, requires more human limitations and shadings in the parents than any of these comic book YA shows have managed so far under Berlanti. The Kents can be, at worst, flawed parents in the emotional/psychological range of characters in those old Ed Zwick nighttime soaps like Once and Again and Thirtysomething. It would be almost impossible to make Clark sufficiently myopic and failing in his family relationships to make any deepening of Jordan's alienation sympathetic for very long, particularly in any real break with the family, without turning off another big segment of the audience that identifies primarily with Superman.

I think that the fact that Clark had Twins instead of a single child due to Crisis meant that the kids split up Clark's powers between the two to some degree.
Ergo, both kids will acquire their powers slowly, slower than Clark in Smallville did to get his full set of powers.
But that allows them to milk the "Learning to be Superman & handle their powers" over many seasons.

I don't know if these shows have a budget boost when they first start but the Superman FX have been pretty nice so far.

Well, yes. She admitted he went overboard with his reaction when Jonathan tried to kiss her. She said he was wrong to pick on the brother who hadn't done anything. She said she was sorry for the the playbook thing. So she isn't delusional and she knows that her boyfriend misbehaved (usually these kind of people find the wildest justifications for their partners' behavior), still her best explanation is "He can be so sweet".
