News Superman & Lois Ordered to Series at The CW

Responding to comments similar to Kirk Prime‘s on another board, a poster (whom I gather has read the leaked pilot script) says the show’s entire setup is anything but apolitical:

... it’s a show set in a deteriorating small midwest American town, dealing with job losses, drugs and drinking, and a major corporation and corporate big wig is moving in to take over for their own nefarious [ends]. Lana’s husband is set up as a soft-MAGA type.

Sounds great to me. I like the built-in topicality and opportunity for social commentary. Very Superman. :techman:

This probably a background prop paper so probably not meant to be read but still. Some appears to be hand written, others seems to be randomly generated, or garbage text. If you google search some of the lines you can find them online, in equally gibberish paragraphs.

Also one of the newspapers under this one is a real one, it mentions Pascale Ferrier, the French-Canadian woman who mailed ricin laced letter to Trump.
The real paper is The National Post--a conservative paper sold across Canada (well, conservative for Canada--probably centre-left in the US).

At first I was disappointed that the show wasn't taking place in Metropolis but this description sound interesting. And I guess we've had several Arrowverse shows in large cities so hopefully they'll try something different.

And a recipe for the lowest rated and least liked Superman show of all time. It would only make sense if they had diverse WRITERS to not demonize half the country and make Superman into something he never was.

The half of the country of which you speak very effectively self-demonizes. No writer could do the job half so well as they do themselves.

The suit looks a little better from what we see but the red trunks do matter. Hopefully they pull a Flash and get them. Perhaps they can do a flashback to his early career in Metropolis and he has them, or maybe he decides to once again wear them.

I can't decide if this is a good sign or a bad one. If they are hiring writers like this, then it's a bad sign because the show runners don't seem to care about Superman, but rather checking boxes and continuing the woke garbage of Supergirl. But this writer got fired so maybe the other writers DO care about making a show that is actually good rather than preachy.

I really want to like this show and I really want it to be better than what Supergirl devolved into.
It is concerning if that really is the attitude in the writers room, but this is coming from someone who was fired, and someone who might hold a grudge is not always the most reliable source.

The pictures from last page again

Her press pass has an ID number of "04 18 1938".

XOW Comics says the for sale date for Action Comics #1 was April 18th 1938 which matches this, but Wikipedia (and the DC Database wiki) says it was sold in early May (with a June publish month on the cover)

Many sources do list April 18, 1938, as the original release date, though apparently it's a somewhat complicated question. Regardless, that was clearly the intent of the Easter egg, so good eye! :techman:

You just proved my point--you're the one doing the demonizing based on complete ignorance. Maybe you should write for CW.

Have you actually ever read Superman stories?

Many. And I have also watched years of television and animation.

Does this guy know he is on a Star Trek message board? That one show pushing the boundaries of liberal messages allowed on TV...

If Star Trek was as liberal as the writers of CW are today, it never would have lasted. GR's messages were not even liberal by today's standard. He certainly didn't hate the United States like writers do today.

Fair, but maybe the fact that she was fired is a bit of a sign of hope that this simply isn't going to be a liberal indoctrination show and just tell good Superman stories.

Might be a good time to adapt the Superman vs the Klan episodes of the radio show.

Just googled that--and I'd have no problem with that--as long as the portray the Klan as racists, and not CONSERVATIVES. The first is real, the latter is not. Conservatives do not support racism. That's the demonization and ignorance I'm talking about. Racism and white supremacy is disgusting, but if they want to modernize it, perhaps they should touch on the liberal hate and violence like ANTIFA. It's just as powerful and just as evil as any form of white supremacy.

I really hope we get at least one scene like that in the show. That is exactly the kind of scene I want to see in my superhero stories.

I'd have no problem with this once in awhile, but I do have a problem with demonizing conservatives and trying to equate the behavior in that scene with supporting Trump. Without balance in the writing room, you get the spew that we have seen on Supergirl over the past few years. If this is what Superman & Lois is going to be, then it will be the lowest rated Superman show of all time and least popular.

Just make good stories, and stop worrying about socialist indoctrination and brainwashing.

The fact remains that the half of the country that voted Republican for president are either racist or okay with the president being a white supremacist. That is pretty simple. Conservatives who do not fall into one of those two categories may have voted for a republican senator (albeit not someone like McConnel or Graham) or representative, but not for president.

In no incarnation of Superman would he support a racist, misogynist, sexual predator in the oval office.

And THIS is exactly the ignorance I was talking about. To say that half the country is racist is flat out stupid. That's not true. It's not even true that Trump is a white supremacist.

And to add to this idiotic line of thinking, BIDEN is a total racist. He has been for decades and has a 47 year record of it.

In no incarnation of Superman would he support a racist, misogynist, sexual predator in the oval office.

Every single adjective you used describes Biden. EVERY one.

Biden's mentor was Robert Byrd, former KKK member, and Biden was friends with him when he was active. Biden was PRO-segregation. He said that he didn't want his kids growing up in a racial jungle.

Biden, a 78 year old white man, said that black people who didn't vote for him "ain't black"

On Obama, Biden said "— “You got the first mainstream African American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that’s a storybook, man.” (That’s in reference to President Obama.)"

Another Biden quote: — “Unlike the African-American community, with notable exceptions, the Latino community is an incredibly diverse community with incredibly diverse attitudes about different things.”

Another Biden quote:--"You cannot go to a 7-Eleven or a Dunkin’ Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent.”

Misogynist? Sexual predator? Google Tara Reade. Not the American Pie actress. The one who Biden allegedly sexually assaulted. Unlike Trump, this was someone who mentioned it at the time of the incident, not a week before an election to try to affect things with no proof. Here's an article on Biden to read:

https://www.businessinsider.com/joe-biden-allegations-women-2020-campaign-2019-6

Don't pretend that Biden is a clean, innocent bastion of good. He is the racist, misogynistic sexual predator that you are pretending Trump is.

So by your logic, you are either racist or ok with white supremacy because of who you vote for.

Democrats are every bit as racist as you claim Republicans are. You just don't see it because your hate for Republicans is so strong despite being baseless.

Superman supported the American way, not socialism and/or communism. He supported freedom of the individual. He would never support the modern day democrat party with their enemies list and despicable behavior.

And the show should have nothing to do with politics. We get enough of it elsewhere. If this is the direction the show goes, it will be the lowest rated Superman show ever, and Hoeschlin will be the least popular. He already is starting off poorly. They need good writers to do this right. And the first thing they should do is abandon the woke lunacy and write good stories.
