Superman (casting, rumors, pix till release)

Since general Zod is the only nemesis truly worthy of Superman this will be good.
It has always been Superman's gentle nature that stopped him from breaking Lex Luthors neck in about 1.3 seconds.

But come on the US Army arresting Superman.....please.:rommie:

I'm assuming that this is by choice. Back to that gentle nature you referred to. What else is he going to do, go to war with the US?

Since general Zod is the only nemesis truly worthy of Superman ...

Take that, Brainiac, Doomsday, Darkseid, Manchester Black, Bizarro, Eradicator, Gog, Cyborg Superman, Imperiex, Jax-Ur, Mongul, Atomic Skull, Parasite, Metallo and Mr. Mxyzptlk.

Yeah, it will be nice to see a villain who is Superman's equal for a change. The only real fight we've had in the films up to this point has been Superman vs. Nuclear Man. And The Quest for Peace getting any credit is just wrong.

So, you haven't seen Superman II?!

The one where General Zod takes over the Earth while Superman hangs out at home and goes for a drink? Yeah, I've seen it. They had a small fight in Metropolis (which was pretty much just flying around the city), but for the most part they barely interacted. I just want to see Superman slug it out on the big screen with someone who can take it.

I am not talking about TV shows or the comics, I am talking about the major Hollywood movies about superman, except for Zod and his crew, the villians have been weak.

Did you see the same Superman II I did?

I think it still holds up really well. Certainly, until maybe a decade or so ago, it would have been in the top ten onscreen superhero smackdowns.

Meh. That really isn't much of a fight scene. There's like 20 seconds of interactions in that entire video. The Junkyard fight from Superman III is much better and more in the style of what I want to see in the future.

There are two details in the trailer that caught my eye.

1. The pebbles starting to float just before Superman is launching.

This suggests they're going for the John Byrne version of explaining his flight (or they're at least using it as visual reference), where Superman has a way (probably an organ inside his body which has developed on earth) of controlling gravitons, in other words, he has the ability to manipulate gravity to some extent.

2.

Chest hair sticking out of neck line. Oops.

I gotta say, that is one dark Superman suit. Almost makes the SR one look bright and cheery in comparison. Lol

I remember people suggesting that Snyder might brighten things up and make everything more colorful in post-production, but that doesn't appear to be the case. In fact it almost looks darker than in that first publicity photo.

It doesn't look to me like the pebbles are floating - it looks like they're bouncing and rolling. As if the earth is shaking beneath him as he tenses and braces himself to leap up. In the shot down from above, the ground has cracked open.

Which would be pretty cool.
