I wouldn't have liked the choice if it had been Joe but would have still given him a chance.
I dont know, I still cant see the guy playing Alcide as a young Clark/Supes and like I said before while I'm not familiar with Cavills work, he at least looks more in line with Routh or Reeves or even Welling, while Joe looks more like the new spokesman for Brawny paper towels.
That's what I heard too, but that's all there is to it. I am worried that hammering out the script and doing shoots wouldn't be feasable by the time 2010-mid-year comes along. By then Supes rights revert back to the Seigels.I heard on IGN's Keepin it Reel podcast that there are serious third act issues with the script, anybody have any more info about it?

Not familiar with Manganiello, but I looked at his IMDb photo gallery, and I don't think he looks as much like Superman as Cavill does. His features are a bit too rough-hewn. Also, his nose looks a little crooked, as if it's been broken, which is unlikely for Clark Kent. Plus he has brown eyes instead of blue.
If he had been cast, though, he would've broken Christopher Reeve's record as the tallest screen Superman.
Another revelation from the EW interview is that the two finalists were Cavill and Joe Manganiello:
Snyder said, "It was a Cavill-Manganiello race until the end of last month."
"Joe's a great guy," says Snyder, who attributes his final pick to a gut decision. "I really liked him. It was about seeing a quality that inspires this inexplicable, mysterious, cool emotion that says, 'That's my guy.'"
