Superman (casting, rumors, pix till release)

I wouldn't have liked the choice if it had been Joe but would have still given him a chance.

What kind of open-minded response is that? Don't you know you're on the internet? If a movie or TV show that has absolutely no connection to you whatsoever doesn't make every casting choice and script decision you like, you're supposed to bitch and moan about how stupid they are and how the apocalypse is upon us.

I dont know, I still cant see the guy playing Alcide as a young Clark/Supes and like I said before while I'm not familiar with Cavills work, he at least looks more in line with Routh or Reeves or even Welling, while Joe looks more like the new spokesman for Brawny paper towels.

Actually the second I saw him on True Blood, I thought "that guy should be the next Superman." He cuts such a huge, imposing figure, and practically already looks like he stepped out of a comic book.

Maybe he couldn't pull off a younger Clark, but he could definitely play the older, more seasoned one we see in most of the comics I think.

I'm glad Henry Cavill got the role. For some reason he screams "Superman" to me more than Joe Manganiello, who I would have been content with if he got the role but only a bit disappointed.

Not familiar with Manganiello, but I looked at his IMDb photo gallery, and I don't think he looks as much like Superman as Cavill does. His features are a bit too rough-hewn. Also, his nose looks a little crooked, as if it's been broken, which is unlikely for Clark Kent. Plus he has brown eyes instead of blue.

If he had been cast, though, he would've broken Christopher Reeve's record as the tallest screen Superman.

I heard on IGN's Keepin it Reel podcast that there are serious third act issues with the script, anybody have any more info about it?

That's what I heard too, but that's all there is to it. I am worried that hammering out the script and doing shoots wouldn't be feasable by the time 2010-mid-year comes along. By then Supes rights revert back to the Seigels.

No sweat. Shooting begins in June, at the earliest. Until then, those problems should be fixable. I mean, how many blockbuster movies are there that use the first draft as the shooting script, anyway.

Yeah I've read that there are problems with the script, didn't hear about the third act specifically, just overall problems. They'll get ironed out. Now that Snyder is fully hands on at this point (he'll be busy when he does press for Sucker Punch in a few weeks) but I suspect that the majority of the major roles to be casted by then.

Cavill's head on Manganiello's body would have been perfect. Where's Dr Frankenstein when you need him?

Actually after thinking about he most resembles the Pa Kent from "Birthright" and "Secret Origins". This intrigues the hell out of me.

Another revelation from the EW interview is that the two finalists were Cavill and Joe Manganiello:

Snyder said, "It was a Cavill-Manganiello race until the end of last month."

"Joe's a great guy," says Snyder, who attributes his final pick to a gut decision. "I really liked him. It was about seeing a quality that inspires this inexplicable, mysterious, cool emotion that says, 'That's my guy.'"

Glad Manganiello didn't get it. I don't think he has the right look, facially.
