So you can't actually counter any of the stuff proven about how Greta and Nolan deliberately made sure the "Wait till streaming" thing couldn't affect their movies and continue with this "Folks actually care who the director is" nonsense. And you ignore the very real fact that the backlash over Brokeback Mountain was the only reason Ledger didn't get the award then and the Academy realized if they didn't award the Dark Knight they'd never be able to. Otherwise they'd never have given Dark Knight a glance.

Indeed, but the self-destruction began many years ago anytime so much as a positive word was directed at DC films (or any won Oscars), and now, the biggest MCU fan has twisted himself into knots with completely unsupported claims about the industry, all to protect a troubled Marvel Studios. Anyways, got Superman 2025 on digital and enjoyed it greatly from the comfort of my living room. Can't wait to see where this all goes next. I'm hoping we finally see a live action version of Braniac in Supergirl or somewhere down the line with the Super films. We've seen Lex Luthor enough.

Agreed about Luthor. The Superman and Lois series arguably took the character in as unique a direction as any adaptation ever attempted, and it was a great success. The Eisenberg "tech bro" version was also a fantastic version, very much relevant to that type who influence so much of the real world, but there's not much more one can do with Luthor--certainly not as fresh as the aforementioned versions.

I too would like to see a live action Brainiac as fully realized as the animated versions from the long gone "Timmverse" DC cartoons. Capturing even 50% of that Brainiac characterization would floor audiences, especially those new to the villain.

Yeah. If Ledger hadn't died, Downey would have walked away with that award. It was a far better performance than Ledger's Joker. Downey's award for Oppenheimer was the make up award

Lex wants to the world to fear Superman, so he uses his totally obedient clone of Superman to break into the Fortress of Solitude in hopes of finding something to incriminate Superman. With that goal in mind, this is not the most efficient use of a totally obedient clone of Superman.

He couldn't really use the clone to its full potential because it was broken and semi-mindless. It also didn't look entirely like Superman. So even if he tried to use it to wreak havoc pretending to be Superman, then the plan wouldn't have worked.

It is damned time we see a great version of Brainiac. The character is Superman's number 2 nemesis and we've never had a decent live on screen version.

As for Luthor, the last few decades (both on screen in Smallville and in the comics) have shown the character works best as a foil for Superman rather than an outright villain. The last attempt to make him a full villain during the lead up to Death Metal was contrived and came out of left field in the comics continuity. (I blame editorial for that.) Luthor works great as a character who is driven by his own ego and his own motivations and desires, but who is not an outright villain. To me, he is a member of Clark/Kal's supporting cast. On screen, I would love to see Houlton return as Lex in that capacity.

I thought Krypton did a very nice version. I’m extremely agnostic on the perceived dire need for a big-screen appearance, however.

Agreed with this 100 percent. Lex has a valid and welcome place in any Superman adaptation.

Except he also has all of Superman's powers, which can wreak havoc from afar, at least far enough away to keep his face hidden. Slap a Superman suit on him, and the people wouldn't know the difference.
Hell, even with the close-up in the movie, I didn't notice the prosthetics on Corenswet's face until after they were pointed out to me by James Gunn on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, and I looked out for them at the next viewing. He still clearly had "Superman's" face, so he should have been able to fool people even from a couple of feet away. Put him in a Superman suit, have him fly about fifteen feet in the air in the city and then have him heat vision a skyscraper (preferably the Daily Planet building, from Lex's point of view, or do it in another city or, just to make sure the real Superman doesn't show up), then have him speed out of there, and nobody would have questioned whether it was really Superman or not.
It would have certainly worked at least as well as that message from Superman's parents.

That said, I'm not mad. I still love the movie as it is, I mentioned before that it ranks among my four favorite movies of all time. And, hell, you could maybe even rationalize it with Lex being to narcissistic to consider the easy option, or at least keeping it for a Plan B in case his break-in at the Fortress was a bust.
