Once everyone has bought all the movies individually, they'll release a complete box set with those extras.
I'm getting less and less confident of seeing such releases as time moves on. I think they're pushing people towards digital. Companies are looking towards a future where they will cease the production of physical media.

I understand why you feel that way but think of the current state of vinyl records. That was a completely dead format for what ? Decades. Now it’s everywhere again. It’s more likely to find new music on vinyl than CDs! If we were told that 20 years ago no one would have believed it.

I think the future of home video is speciality labels who license from the big studios. We are already seeing it.

Hmm, good thing I kept my phonograph, then. Though these days I only seem to use it as a place to rest my laptop when I'm not using it...

Yes. I think it’s going to remain as a niche thing catering to diehards and collectors, serviced largely by boutique labels, while the big studios give us the middle finger in favor of streaming (which they love because purchasers are getting nothing tangible in exchange for their money, as opposed to a physical object that has to be manufactured, transported, warehoused, etc.).

I'm not sure that's the case. I know that with books, economies of scale mean that the added cost to print, transport, and store a paper book vs. an e-book comes out to mere pennies per unit if the print run is large enough, because most of the cost of a book is paying for the many hours of work done by the writer, editor, copyeditors, proofreaders, typesetters, cover designers and artists, marketing people, etc. It's only with smaller print runs that the cost of creating and transporting the physical book would add significantly to the price, which is why print-on-demand editions cost more. So I would expect that the same would go for music albums.

I wouldn't consider myself an audiophile, however, I do go to my local record store at least once a month, and, the number of "Vinyl Exclusives" by major artists has grown considerably in the past few years.

This is not actually true. CDs still account for the lion’s share of physical media music releases. Vinyl’s relative increase in popularity has led to many media reports suggesting it is more popular than CDs—and that may be true in the sense of the “coolness factor” but not in actual sales of new releases. For one thing vinyl is MUCH more expensive on average (largely owing to very limited production capacity as almost all presses were gone and there still isn’t nearly enough to surpass CD production) and for another, relatively few people actually have turntables (which are also frequently expensive).

Besides which, vinyl is objectively inferior in every measurable, physical aspect to CDs in music reproduction with equivalent masters. Any better sound quality from vinyl over CDs is owing to the quality of the master used to make the respective releases. The physics of the this statement is beyond doubt. New releases are almost always from digital masters, so vinyl starts with a disadvantage anyway.

The psychological effects of “playing the vinyl” version of a recording, with its tactile features especially, are well documented but the sound quality issue is not among the benefits (again, as long as the same masters are used).

Okay, sure, this might make more sense in the Peacemaker thread, but I’m not posting it because I care about Peacemaker. :p

I almost clicked through before watching the episode, but I'm glad I didn't. It was an honest surprise and I enjoyed it.

this was some what better than i expected

i am glad that lois knew about clark being superman and an alien althought i think they should have included jimmy knowing about clark being superman and an alien then both jimmy and lois could cover for clark easyer

I really liked Grant Morrison's take that Jimmy and Clark were about the same age and Lois was a few years older. IIRC Jimmy knew Clark's secret and Lois didn't--but I really may be misremembering.

The problem is, there have been multiple accounts online about people complaining about their DVD's and BluRays no longer working. Disc rot and low quality material has led to many people complaining they can't watch some favorites. And sadly, not all movies are available digitally. Atleast not everywhere.
I can't find the 1990's TNMT online anywhere here in the Netherlands, and when I occasionally find a bluray they are quite expensive.

So both media forms are far from perfect right now.

I've always thought that Lois was a few years older than Clark; maybe due in part to Superman '78 where Lois just looked and acted older than Clark.
Margot Kidder was also four years older than Christopher Reeve IRL.
I think John Byrne, when he rebooted Superman after Crisis, also implied that Lois was a few years older than Clark

Most Lois actresses have been at least slightly older than their Clarks. Brosnahan is three years older than Corenswet. Tulloch is six years older than Hoechlin. And Adams is nine years older than Cavill.

It makes sense. In modern iterations, Lois is typically an established reporter by the time Clark arrives on the Metropolis scene. It’s also a nice reversal of the more standard Hollywood actor/actress pairings.

Her whole persona is more worldly-wise and sophisticated than Clark's, which probably contributes to that impression.

That's been true in every dramatization of Superman I've seen, on back to the 1950s, though i've never heard enough of the radio serial to speak of that.

Heh. I remember when it was the exact opposite back in the 80s-90s.

My Adventures with Superman took a similar approach, Clark & Jimmy are best friends and roommates, although their Lois seems to be pretty close in age to the two of them.
