It didn't bring back old actors from older movies from earlier eras, though.

Christopher Reeves son had a cameo. ;)

I'm not a huge fan of nostalgia for the sake of nostalgia, I think that is what set Superman apart for me. The nostalgia served the story, not the other way around.

This is barely an outline for a scene.

I just watched the movie again. The dialogue throughout is knife-sharp, and this extended scene is a high point in the film.
