Supergirl TV Series is being work on.

CBS has to have it's balls tickled before they agree to that.

I'm pretty sure they already have (agreed to it). It's just not something that's currently being talked about or discussed because the PtBs' focus is elsewhere.

Actually, from everything the producers have said so far, it's just the opposite. Supergirl is most likely in it's own continuity.

Berlanti has all but said that the PtB have not given the OK.

This was already discussed earlier in the thread.

I guess some of us, me included, won't believe in this moratorium until the Supergirlverse starts reusing/recasting/reorigining characters already used in the Arrowverse.

And even then, after this sad truth is completely cemented, it's just a parallel universe, which is more than within the abilities of a Flash to transcend into.

I'll be very surprised if we don't at least get some vague reference or mention of Supergirl on Flash or Arrow this season (even if it's just an in-joke from Cisco about a cute girl in a red skirt or something).

But an actual crossover seems very unlikely I think.

I think we may see a crossover eventually, but it will be a parallel universe thing. Its such a great way to have a crossover, but still have Supergirl in a universe with superman being active (among other things).

Yeah that would work, but I'm not sure I'd want it established that either Supergirl or Flash/Arrow were only taking place in a parallel universe (and I'm not sure the networks would want that either). Especially since a lot of what makes superheroes so cool in the first place is the idea of them existing in our world.

Except they obviously don't exist in our world, because our world has DC Comics, and doesn't have superpowered people. I've never understood the desire of so much fantasy/SF fiction to pretend it's set in our world, when it clearly can't be. What makes superheroes cool is that they don't exist in our world, but rather, they exist in a world where superheroes can work and have suitably monumental threats to face. The fun of The Flash in particular is that it so totally embraces the alternate world of the comics, with all its craziness. It doesn't try to tone things down just because they aren't "realistic" enough. Arrow did in its first season, but by now it's fully embraced the more fanciful side of the DCU.

Of course you can easily depict an alternate world with a degree of naturalism; just because it's alternate, that doesn't mean that it can't feel similar to our world. But I don't see why that sense of verisimilitude would be diminished by setting Supergirl in an alternate universe from Arrow/The Flash, any more than it's diminished by setting Supergirl in an alternate universe from Daredevil and Agents of SHIELD, or in an alternate universe from Sleepy Hollow, or in an alternate universe from NCIS.

Anyway, we've already got Gotham clearly operating in a different universe from Arrow/The Flash, so why should it be any more of a problem with Supergirl?
