Since both Superman and girl work in an office they would have a good excuse for carrying around bags/briefcases like that.
With a bag there's always a chance it could fall out of the bad while you are digging for other stuff. Then again, with it under your clothes there's also a chance you could tear your shirt, pants, dress, or whatever and reveal what you have on under it.

In this day and age, though, there's an easy excuse for it if your costume's discovered. Just say you're going to a cosplay convention after work.

For a while Steve Rogers was commercial artist, who then got a job as a comic book artist for Marvel Comics.

As an artist, he was expected to carry a lot of A0 and A1 sheets around in a back pack like carry folder, which also was a good place to put his adamantium shield when he was pretending that he was not Captain America.

This has puzzled me. Does a being that possesses super human speed need to wear their hero uniform under their civilian clothes? I get it is cool for Superman & Supergirl to rip open their shirt to reveal the \S/ but it makes no sense to wear it under their clothes because in a "flash" they can change.

Well even moving at super-speed, I imagine changing into a supersuit would still be a pain to do. And that's still time that would be better spent flying toward a disaster or accident that required your immediate attention.

I was bothered a bit about the costume changing scene in the Flash during the Tsunami attack.
Barry just spinned really fast in front of Iris into costume.
Either the costume magically appeared or he was wearing it underneath (why? He usually doesn't) or his regular clothes magically disappeared.

I've probably already talked about Kara's magical quick-changes in the '84 Supergirl, where she changes costume by walking behind trees or flying through a window and "wiping" from Linda to Supergirl with the window frame as the split-screen line.

Although in that case, it effectively can be attributed to magic, or at least sufficiently advanced technology, since she's wearing a bracelet that's linked to the "magical" Omegahedron and that may possess a portion of its power of transformation.

Really glad to see it seems to be tapping into something with the female audience so far, and have a feeling the show's going to become a much bigger hit than people expect precisely because of that. At least that's what I'm hoping.

Hey it may be cheesy, but that's still one of the coolest and most thrilling sequences in the entire movie in my book.

And it at least looked a bit more believable than the scene where he dives out the window as Clark and just seems to magically transform into Superman in an instant. Although in both cases I guess you could argue that he's changing so fast it only appears to be magic.

Good grief, what is with that promotional banner image they're using that cuts off her head and focuses on her chest? That's an unfortunately male-gazey way to promote a show like this. Her eyes are up there, guys!

Sure, but when an image of a woman is presented that way, there's an element of objectification that isn't there with a man. I'm reminded of a rather infamous panel from DC's Cry for Justice in 2009, which was widely criticized for gratuitously focusing on Supergirl's breasts and cutting off her head, while the male heroes standing behind her were all shown full-length. It's a rather unfortunate image to remind people of.

Eh, seems pretty innocuous to me, given that there's nothing revealing about the costume at all. And the focus clearly seems to be on the costume itself over just her chest or whatever.

That said, I do really like this new version a lot better:
