Supergirl
Season 4 / episode 14- "Stand and Deliver"
SG/Kara: "I should have dealt with the Elite when I had the chance." Really. So now a group with a mass murderer as a leader (who tried to kill her) is a priority now.
J'onn: "Manchester gets under my skin". But not enough to use necessary force stop him on several occasions, including the fight at the fortress. It should not take Manchester mocking his personal losses (or threatening more) to get him to bring him down.
Lockwood / Children of Liberty: "Us or them" Ahh. The showrunners step over the fact that its a chant / worldview from both sides of the political waters. It just depends on the subject that sparks the most vitriolic of reactions.
Lockwood was reduced from the interesting ideologue/villain seen early on, and just turned into a near-total caricature in this episode.
Menagerie / Manchester Black & Company: Now they break into the Fortress. At this point, Kara should not feel any need to play nice with this group, since they will do anything--including violate what should be assumed to be the most precious place to her (and her cousin) with any ties to her heritage.
James / Lena: James asking Eve
anything about Lena's affairs....not wise at all. It makes him seem dense, since he knows how loyal she is to Lena. I understand that he cannot do much of his own investigating (at present), but he cannot expect any sort of good outcome from Lena becoming his enemy if she learns what he tried to do.
James shot by an unknown assailant. It could be:
- One of the Children of Liberty in retaliation for the photo's effect. Lockwood had a negative encounter with James and knows where he stands on the issue, so he could be behind it.
- Lena acting on some of the same triggers (remember, she was always an advocate of alien deterrents, and any tide shift from James' photo would anger her / give her a sense of betrayal). Perhaps Eve...?
- Lex--for the same reasons, and he has an adversarial history with James. That, and he could use that against Supergirl as part of his red sun scheme.
- Manchester--knowing James has some association with Supergirl and J'onn, this might serve as the "loss" to J'onn he threatened.
If he lives--but is disabled to any degree, would Lena use her superhuman formula on James? Oh, the potential in that...
Haley: ..her conversation with Brainy...was he being naïve or just ignorant of history regarding the some protests going wrong? He's from the future, so this should not be news to him at all.
Nia / Brainy: Her materializing behind Menagerie was nice. Playing up the mysterious side works.
NOTES: "Say cheers to our little friends" and the Stealer's Wheels song,
"Stuck in the Middle with You"--enough swiping from other productions
.
Pollyanna-esque end of the protest scene, and of course, this series will never address both sides of a serious issue, particularly one where several world threatening alien invasions were involved.
