Spoilers Supergirl - Season 3

Not open for further replies.
To follow up on my last post, the only thing that makes this situation unusual is that Supergirl is taking a break, coming back, and then taking another break, when SOP would be for it to take a single prolonged break to let Legends air in its timeslot completely.

Speaking of the ratings...

Here's another set of ratings, of the averages 2017-2018 season in the vaunted demographic group ages 19-49.

https://tvseriesfinale.com/tv-show/cw-2017-18-season-ratings/

The thing that stood out for me is that SG is The CW's #2 after FLASH in the number of viewers in that age group.

Of course, these ratings pale compared to the big networks, where more people watched Young Sheldon than watched Flash, Supergirl, LoT, Arrow, Riverdale and Valor combined.

(hmmm, can't post that link??)

Anyways, I am enjoying the show more this year than even last year's and am hopeful it will keep flying on the CW for a few more seasons.

ETA:

This announcement is trying to put a positive spin on the scheduling changes

I guess the Canadian broadcaster of Supergirl (Showcase who took it over from CityTV when it moved channels in) will have to run a pile of repeats while waiting for the return of new episodes. Legends of Tomorrow is on CTV

Yeah Reigns costume looks like something made in the 90s

I've never heard of that before, and naturally based on the poster I just had to look it up. :D

Watched the first one this evening, and it was so wonderfully campy... I hope the sequel lives up to it :techman:

Either some-one hasn't told Showcase about the delayed return of new eps or Canada will be getting Supergirl back on Jan 15h.

During Travelers on Monday night there was a little in screen spot promoing Supergirl's return.

^ Everybody's getting Sg back on January 15, followed by a month or so of new eps. The extended break starts in mid-February.

The thing that I picked up on was the spike in the ratings for the crossover. If it wasn't for the logistics involved, butassuming all four (five depending on Black Lightning's status via a vis the Arrowverse) shows get renewed - and early like last year - I'd like to see the mega crossover concept take the next logical step forward from 'Invasion' and then 'Crisis on Earth X' and have all the shows connected throughout the season with large and small crossovers galore. Of course, in addition to the logistics there's also the fact that fans of only one/some of the shows would cry foul about having to watch so many different shows to get the picture but I'd love it. There could be four big crossovers - the season premieres, the midseason finale, the midseason premiere and the season finales plus lots of little 'bilateral' ones. Well a guy can dream.

Not too crazy about ye olde X-Men 2000 all-black costume aesthetic (what's wrong with this? Or this? Okay, you don't have to answer that last one), but otherwise I'm psyched as can be. Supergirl has been killing it from "The Faithful" on this season, and I can't wait for whatever's next.

Ten. More. Days!

Once again, a DCCW show completely fails to do something that Smallville accomplished years ago. First they butcher the JSA now the Legion of Superheroes. Whatever people who absolutely loathe DC Comics who managed to get a positions of power on these shows is having the time of their lives.

Looks like they're sticking with the basic Coluan makeup established for Indigo in season 1, although Brainiac-5 has a lighter complexion and a different color/configuration of lights on his head.

And this is the second genre role in which Jesse Rath has played a white-haired alien, after Alak Tarr on Defiance.

^ Good point about Indigo, Christopher.

In other news, the synopsis for the January 22 ep has been released:
SUPERGIRL TEAMS UP WITH SATURN GIRL, LIVEWIRE AND PSI – As Reign (Odette Annable) continues to terrorize the city, Supergirl (Melissa Benoist) teams up with Saturn Girl (guest star Amy Jackson), and the two recruit Supergirl’s former enemies, Livewire (guest star Brit Morgan) and Psi (guest star Yael Grobglas), to form a team for a mission to Fort Rozz to recover a prisoner who has information on how to defeat Reign once and for all. Meanwhile, Alex (Chyler Leigh) babysits Ruby (guest star Emma Tremblay).

I wonder if they're making Brainiac blue rather than green to avoid confusion with the green Martians.

As I said, I assume their logic is that he's the same species as Indigo, and Indigo had blue (or, well, indigo) skin. Apparently some renderings of the comics character have green or bluish-green skin, but her name's Indigo, after all, so the show made her appearance match her name. And so that set the precedent for Coluans being blue. Although I guess there's no reason an alien species couldn't have both blue and green ethnic types.

Like the Orions? ;)

So I guess Supes, MMH and Mon El will be sitting this emergency out ?.

3 heavy hitters from the comics i'd go running to for help instead of Saturn Girl, Livewire and PSI, 2 of which cannot be trusted.

Oh well with Supes and MMH certain to sit this out at least we cannot be disappointed about how the show handles them as i'll hazard a guess that Reign will kick both their butts.

Presumably there's a story reason for the team selection. Maybe the person they're looking for will only deal with women.
