Spoilers Supergirl - Season 2

M'gann M'orzz.

Are we addressing the black face question?

A White Martian pretending to be a Green Maritan pretending to be a black human.

I'm sure Sharon Leal do very well, but I'm not thrilled by the Miss Martian casting. She's supposed to be J'ohn's much younger niece and a contemporary of Supergirl.

The musical announcement on the other hand... OH HELL YES! Pleaseplease some reason to get Neil Patrick Harris as the villain...

You can always cherry-pick differences, but that doesn't mean the similarities don't apply. Two things don't have to be absolutely identical to be valid as analogies.

And two things with some general similarities don't always make good analogies. This would be like saying "The DS9 crew interacted with a character from the Dominion on a regular basis, therefore going back and forth to the Dominion was a very casual thing."

Do we? How often do crossovers between the shows really happen anyway? Typically it's just a few times a season.

I don't need to always see it, but I love the fact that there's plenty of off-screen stuff that happens between the Flash and Arrow casts.

M'Gann is only J'onn's "niece" in Young Justice, and even there that particular characterization decision never made much sense because they're from two completely different species.

Worf's parents were human.

If M'gann has been in the back ground "protected" by J'onn ever since he/they arrived on Earth a decade ago, it's possible that the identity that she is using is a real persons life (who is dead?) attached to the original Hank Henshaw in some way, that her age and ageing has had to keep pace and stay relative to Hank's age.

J'onn's version of Hank has been ageing the same as a human would, otherwise he might have been outed as a pretender.

Given that the White Martians in the Supergirl universe were responsible for killing the entirety of the Green Martian race save for J'onn himself, there's about a snowball's chance in hell of there being any type of congenial relationship between him and M'Gann (unless he's unaware that she's actually a White Martian in disguise when he first meets her).

In light of the news about M'Gann coming in, I'm thinking that she may be involved with J'onn in a romantic capacity, since David Harewood pretty strongly hinted at the possibility of a love interest for J'onn materializing during his interview(s) at Comic-Con, and that's why they cast Sharon Leal.

Nope, not at all.

The only real difference between Green, White and Red Martians is skin color - which is a pretty superficial difference, of course, genetically, but a significant difference historically and culturally on Mars.

Of course, on Mars-16, the White Martians aren't a separate species - and they're only a different "race" if you are using the word "race" the way we Earthlings do to distinguish Caucasians from Africans from Asians. And certainly, the White Martians are not monolithically evil.

Oh, and for the record: M'gann IS J'onn's niece. She didn't lie about that. M'gann's mom (i.e. J'onn's sister) is green. Her dad is white. Most of M'gann's siblings are also green, though she has one white brother.

A romantic interest for J'onn seems good, but is it a pre-existing relationship, that he has not mentioned before, or did they just meet in a bar inbetween seasons?

Personally I thought it was a Hal Jordan/Arisa deal where there was a 13 year old who used "magic" to skip a few years, to become social acceptable mate to a 30ish year old human, but you know for a childish 100 year old white Martian to seduce a mature 30ish year old Kryptonian 10 years ago.

Arisa's surname is Rrab?

###?

A. Rrab.

Social commentary or weird coincidence?

Good, hopefully we can finally put those speculations to rest.

One of the shows -- producers declined to say which one -- will find a "significant" character experimenting with their sexuality, and ultimately coming out as gay.

I've heard this might be Winn, but I'm hoping it's Kara. I'd still like to see her follow up on her statement last season that she wanted to date Lucy Lane.

As stated above, the niece relationship comes only from Young Justice (and the Smallville Season 11 comics). Apparently the comics' version was alive during the civil war between White and Green Martians, so she must be centuries old at least.

40 in LA is 23 almost everywhere else.

There's the Justice League Taskforce (in the 90s) where J'onn admitted that gender is really fluid with his people, and saved the rest of the day as a woman.

Alex can't be gay because they're trying to pair her off with Lord.

Mommy Danvers?

Jimmy? Picking unobtainable women and then running the moment they become obtained. That's textbook.

Lucy?

Siobhan? She looked very comfortable with live Wire, and besides, a women's prison is not the best place to find a boyfriend.

Cat Grant I can see as saying that she is beyond and above lables.

It's a really small cast.

I'm so glad to hear this, he's got some of the most musical experience of anybody on the shows, so it would have been a real shame not to involve him.
I would hope so!

Not only was he in GODSPELL, but he also played John Wilkes Booth in the original Broadway production of Stephen Sondheim's ASSASSINS. (Yes, I have the original cast album.) And Daddy Warbucks in ANNIE.

It would be a crying shame to leave him out of a musical ep.

Was she actually his niece? After the big reveal than I just assumed he had been pretending she was his niece as a way to get to accept her quicker.

If M'gann is John's love interest, calling herself MISS Martian might be a passive aggressive demand that J'onn put a ring on it... And then finally she can start calling herself Mrs Martian.

They need to find an alternate Earth with this Victor Garber.

Sometimes a casual throwaway expression of admiration is just a casual throwaway expression of admiration.

Let me rephrase then... the only take on Miss Martian that's been done with any real depth and emotional impact was the one where she's J'onn's niece.

Was she actually his niece? After the big reveal than I just assumed he had been pretending she was his niece as a way to get to accept her quicker.

Yeah, she is. In the Young Justice-verse the difference between White and Green (and Red) Martians is simply a matter of skn color and some cultural differences, fairly analogous to our own skin pigment differences. White Martians are stigmatized and treated as second-class citizens but there's no biological distinction.
