Spoilers Supergirl - Season 2

Interesting spoiler. That species name was mentioned in that same episode. I figured it was just a Easter Egg for comic book fans which they do a lot off.

I feel very confident in saying that it's 99.9% likely that she's really the President of the United States, largely because there's comics precedent for
a member of her species
building a full life and identity on Earth in "human" form (this is exactly what happened with R.J. Brande, who, I might add, was referenced in the episode itself, which is kind of fitting given this new
revelation about Marsdin.
)

I missed the R.J. Brande reference. Where was it?

Also, in the fight at the fortress of solitude when Mon-El rushes to block Rhea from Supergirl, was that the first time Mon-El has used super speed?

Maggie was wrong in painting the ex as the bad guy in the relationship, but she had no obligation to tell Alex about the cheating.

Everyone has the right to keep some secret from his/her partner. S/he is not a detached analyst and you can't know how s/he can react to the revelation.

But Alex has behaved as if he had the right to know every single detail of Maggie's life. I didn't like it.

Alex wanted a reward for not boiling bunnies, when it was clear that she was already bringing the water to a simmer from the get-go.

If the DEO is top secret and on the black, if this isn't rolled into INS, shouldn't there be a beard Governmental department with a billion dollar budget maintaining alien security and sanctuary?

Where the hell are they?

No, she just recognized that it was a symptom of Maggie's inability to trust the people close to her, which was a scar left over from her parents' betrayal and intolerance when she outed herself to them. So instead of being judgmental, Alex was forgiving and sought to help Maggie heal. It wasn't about whether Maggie told her everything, it was about why she had a pattern of hiding painful truths. She wanted Maggie to know that it was safe to open up to her, that she wouldn't judge and reject Maggie for her secrets the way her parents had. Not "you have to tell me everything," but "you can tell me anything." There is a galaxy of difference.

Maggie and Alex are no more or less "forced on the viewer" than are Kara and Mon-El.

Don't like them? Watch something else.

Or, maybe they should cater to people that want to watch a show called SUPERGIRL, not "Supergirl's adopted sister."

There are plenty of B stories that can be written that involve something other than a minor character's love life. And there is plenty of relationship stuff on the show without going out of the way to force something completely irrelevant to anything important on the show.

What in Rao's name are you talking about? Alex is hardly a "minor character," she's one of the main stars. Chyler Leigh is billed third in the show's credits, just after Mehcad Brooks -- and with James's role reduced this season, that makes Alex effectively the second lead. She's been a central figure in the show from day one.

Isn't this the part where you say "I've got nothing against gay people. I have gay friends. It's just..."

Alex is not a minor character, and her romance is no more or less relevant than Winn's or James'.

Yes, I heard her explanation and still I don't like it. It's not like Alex is a certified analyst who can decide what's healthy to share and what's not.

Instead, after stalking Maggie's ex (without asking her!) she concluded that the fact she didn't share a shameful act in her past was obviously a symptom of a problem. An act that even the most well-adjusted person wouldn't be so eager to share.

Um, this is a superhero show, not a show about a superhero's adopted sister's love life. I don't care whether it's gay or straight. I don't have any issue with Maggie at all. She exists in the comics and is gay in the comics, and has had relationships in the comics. But the show is called Supergirl. I want to actually see Supergirl do things. Not take away from a major plot point to find out how Alex is doing with her girlfriend. Or boyfriend.

This subplot had nothing to do with the episode. It served no purpose. Had no relation. At least when Winn and J'onn got involved with someone it was with an alien.

All this did this week, was waste time.

And this is the part where someone gets on a soapbox because not everyone is buying into this storyline.

Her romance is MUCH less relevant than James', who last season was involved with Lucy Lane, and was a love interest of the MAIN CHARACTER. Now if Jimmy were involved with some random girl, and it had nothing to do with the main story, and we dedicated time each week to Jimmy and this girl, and his feelings, then yes, you'd be right.

Chyler Leigh is a movie star and leading lady.

If they don't give her meat to chew, she will wander off.

The only reason Chyler is slumming it here in the Flarrowverse is because she's still shellshocked from the monumental mistake on all levels that was Taxi Brooklyn.
