All "That" just doesn't just roll out of bed in the morning.

I'd put his reality up against the stereotype of a woman getting dressed for a party...

I'm flashing back to that episode of Friends that shot in three long scenes (ad breaks.) and realtime preparing for some award ceremony of Ross' and Rachel was being a real Mechad Brooks.

I'm really hoping at some point we see Kara changing into her Supergirl costume on screen (beyond just he shirt rip). I know it's kind of the tradition to have Superman or Supergirl just sort of suddenly appear in their costume, but I'd love to see the actual transition at some point. Whether it's a superspeed-style morph like in the Superman II alley scene or something else.

She could spin around in place and change into her costume in a flash of light... Or she could do what Helen Slater did and walk behind a split-screen tree.

I'm liking this series. I really can't find anything to complain about. It's fun.

Both were well cast.

They were. I'm taking nothing away from Gustan, but there is a perkiness that Benoist portrays that I really like. I'll say thank god they're both not in Glee anymore.

Grant Gustin () and Benoist's characters share quite some common traits as in they're both adorable dorks from time to time but when the action comes down they go at it full throttle which i like about both characters.

I haven't noticed Gustin much in Glee but Benoist sure made an impression before i quit the show and she has an amazing singing voice ( i hope they use it sometime, they used Gustin's voice in one episode which in context of that episode was adorable as hell).

I thought the episode was a little heavy handed and full off speeches that at times came off a little melodramatic and corny, worst of all was how they drowned Supergirl's store robbery scene in music.. a little more lowkey would have been better (for example like the scene where she goes all out against Red Tornado in the previous episode).

It was a good episode, some character development for Kara but i also disliked her friend's reaction (tech guy, can't remember his name). Just because he is madly in love with Kara obviously doesn't give him any right to drop such a bombshell on her.. especially because the situation was misunderstood by him and he blew up needlessly.

Next week may get worse though.. i absolutely hate her superaunt and the plot that surrounds her.

Gustin played Sebastian in Season 3. He was kind of the Warblers villian to the New Directions squad that year.

Too many flights, too many tights, lol. Though I wouldn't be opposed to having Rosenbaum come back as Luthor.

Speaking of Winn, he was kind of a jerk here. What business did he have getting upset about a simple thank-you hug between friends?

Because its been established that Kara and James are close in ways she's not with Winn. The hug was more than just that conversation--the same with their parting glance at the end of the episode.

That's no answer. He doesn't have any claim over her, so what gives him the right to disapprove? Jealousy is not a moral high ground. She wasn't doing anything wrong.

I never said it gave Winn a moral high ground. I'm acknowledging that he--like the audience--sees Kara & James relationship being more than just friends, as she is with Winn.

Yes, obviously that's what was going on, but that is how a selfish jerk behaves, so it is anything but a defense of his actions. Before, his crush on Kara has been passive and harmless enough to be sympathetic. He's had feelings for her but has respected her right to make her own relationship choices and hasn't tried to impose his feelings in a way that would damage their friendship. Now he's suddenly and inexplicably being creepy and entitled about it.

They're playing him in the right way because his rant was born of growing jealousy, anger and insecurity about "the other guy." No is saying he's not being an ass, but for his type of guy, the behavior is rather honest. He knows she is aware of his feelings, but is not interested in reciprocating, so thinking that she is reserving her heart for James, he acts out--dooming her to never having a normal relationship.

A form of "if I can't have you, no one else will."

I'm interested to see if Kara goes overboard to ease Winn's feelings, or will he tuck tail, apologize and goes back to square one of trying to win her--nevermind he told her she cannot have a normal relationship.

It had the right spirit, I'll agree on that, but it played out as rather simplistic, I thought.

It would have worked if she was talking to some kid just stealing--not an armed looter. It was so unrealistic a situation that it hurt the overall message of the episode.

(Also what's transpiring between Kara and James is more than a thank-you hug).

I expect more emotional road bumps to come (to avoid making it easy), but yeah, there's something else going on.

James finally admits that his obsession with Superman must be sexual since making out with Supergirl didn't really hit home nearly as hard as it should have.

But that scene was nearly all music, with Kara screaming her lungs out silently. It was pretty much the opposite of low-key.

It was different (at least to me). The music was not as overpowering as it was in the robbery scene. It was there and nicely complemented a powerful battle that had an emotional undertone.

With the robbery it seemed more like "Hey look! Dramatic character scene which you shall like!" If they had used more subtle music it would have been much better.

She saw a robbery, GOT CHANGED and then stopped the robbery.

Unless there's a zip up the side of those boots, that's four minute per boot to get them past each knee.

I am starting to think it would be even better if it were just a tad bit darker and more serious along the lines of Flash (which I never would have called a dark show before, but in comparison with SG it now kinda seems like it is!). And I think that would probably help draw in more viewers as well.

Plus I'd just love to see Supergirl going up against a villain at some point that's as scary and badass as Zoom.

But there's too much darkness already in the world today. This is a time when we need optimistic messages. Superman was first introduced in a very dark time, a time of depression and corruption and global war and widespread racial and religious bigotry, and it made a statement that people could stand for something better, could fight for something better. And that positive message had a real impact on people and gave them hope.

Give it time.. Flash "lucked" out to have two very interesting main villains now (Wells and now Zoom) which is a credit to the writers and part of what makes that show so great.

I'll admit that this so far is the weakest point of Supergirl.. i just can't stand her Superaunt and she's a far cry from Flash level villains and probably will never reach anything interesting.

However Supergirl itself comes off as a bit more cheery.. while both characters have their dork moments Barry always seems much more earnest at times, especially in season 2 as the result of Wells' betrayal. Supergirl hasn't even had half a season so there's plenty of time to develop both the show and the characters.

Kara on the other hand fully embraces her superpersona from the start and wants to be a center stage rolemodel for everybody even though she struggles on the finer points on actually how to do that (which is why i like Cat Grant more and more.. while she is a bitch often enough she seems to grow more and more into a mentor role for Supergirl).

So both shows, while sharing some traits and general ideas, are different enough and can/should be viewed on their own merits.

A crossover though.. that would be glorious

Concur. And I'm hoping that this positive sentiment that's making Supergirl a success so far will allow that OTHER team at CBS to come up with an awesome Star Trek. The countdown is on, people.
