Spoilers Supergirl - Season 1

Remember, the spaceship was originally occupied by a little girl. It probably has the kryptonian equivalent of a child safe controls.

I was about to say that. It might have been as easy as commanding: "Ship, fly to where Kara Zor-El is and take her back to earth." since Kryptonians are experts at designing AIs.
All Alex had to do was climb into the cockpit and turn it on.

I sure hope this show gets renewed so that we find out who is in the pod!

Nothing but a guess on my part, but I'm betting it's either Krypto the super dog or Streaky the super cat. It would fit the kind of goofy vibe on the show and track with the Berlanti co. love of classic DC comics lore.

Finding a pet inside would be a real waste of a cliff hanger.

Agreed. Not that I would be completely opposed to a superpet story at some point, but not as a major plot arc - which a cliffhanger like this really needs to be. Personally, I hope it's Power Girl. That's a story that would definitely convince me to keep watching a bit longer. If not that, then I expect it to be someone from the House of El or someone pretending to be that. Maybe an unrelated Kryptonian villain or, at a very outside chance, some kind of Superboy/young clark story.

I think Power Girl makes the most sense, it would be a great story and all they need is different costume (and maybe a wig) for Melissa Benoist, two characters for the price of one and audiences seem to like actors playing different versions of themselves, it's works well over on The Flash and The Vampire Diaries has dealt with Doppelgängers since the first season.

I guess a lot of people who are guessing who/what is in the pod weren't reading the...

They lined up the kid who played teenage Kal-El in Kara's vision to appear in more episodes, and everyone was wondering how they'd fit him into the show as a regular character.

That's writing for the series. What is not is that the pod--whether made for a child or adult is still a technology beyond human understanding unless studied with a time and technical investment no one person would make.

Again, in only three years at the DEO, Alex would not have the time to somehow become competent enough with Kryptonian technology to successfully save SG. Come on. She had to learn job functions / rules / training for the typical duties / missions seen on the show, while the DEO would assign specialists to understand the functions of an alien craft, not someone--again--more often than not, was presented all season long as a field agent.

Shoehorning Alex into situations beyond her capabilities does not make her a strong character.

Blah blah blah
I couldn't notice how you ignored everything else. Like what Kara was supposedly "pushing off of" to fly, even when hovering or shifting directions and speed in mid-air.

It's cool though, I've discussed things with people like you time and time again on the Internet. In order to make your point you have to ignore everything else. Which, incidentally, means you're not making a very good point at all.

Actually, it was pretty much just a glorified escape pod. No one inside was intended to pilot it at all, for either hers or Clark's ships.

They did have the AI to tell them anything they needed to know.

Yet she gives her an office without a window.

Skyscrapers like the CatCo building typically don't have windows that can open. So, an office with a window wouldn't be any sort of useful to Kara.

Plus, the absence of a window (either facing the outside world or the interior, like James' windows) would protect Kara's privacy when/if she needs to be Supergirl.

I rather like the idea of a "parallel universe" Kara Zor-L, who would become the teenaged equivalent of Superboy. She would still bear the name Power Girl, but more of a younger sister to Kara. Karen would be a perfect name, just like in the comics.

And how about a parallel universe Lucy Lane as Superwoman? There doesn't appear to be a Justice League in the Supergirl universe, so she doesn't have to be a member of the Crime Syndicate.

The tricky thing there is that Malina Weissman (young Kara) has been cast as Violet, the lead character in Netflix's upcoming A Series of Unfortunate Events TV series. Then again, the first season is already shooting and is only eight episodes, so Weissman might be free to be a regular or semi-regular in season 2 of Supergirl, but it's hard to say for sure.

I look forward to getting a superpet in the show eventually, but I have to agree too. It wouldn't be bad for a episode or just a commercial break cliffhanger, but it would be kind of underwhelming for a big end season cliffhanger.

James, Winn and marked for death girl jumped out of something in the Myriad episode (quite easily and on every side of the building). It doesn't really seem like the typical skyscraper (in which things such as balconies would also be very well shutoff to prevent people from falling/jumping.
