Just finished STT over the weekend. A few random thoughts/comments:
OBVIOUS SPOILERS ABOUND!!!
I never once felt like any of the characters in this large ensemble got the short end of the stick...each had something to do in genuine situations, which was good to see and better than just "sticking them in just to have them show up again in the next novel." Zeke Fisher (yes, Morgan Freeman...) is becoming a favorite of mine...his exchanges with Reyes and Desai are some of my favorite in the entire book.
I have a feeling we haven't seen the last of Sarith and the
Bloodied Talon. I know it was implied that they should self destruct but it also seemed in the end, one last fight was what Sarith was leaning towards. Loved how their exploits and those of the senate in the epilogue are heading towards the events in BoT. Excellent!
Shedai Sentinels = the Black Smoke from LOST anyone? I thought all of these scenes were done very well. Very cinematic feel here...
Nice twist with Anna and T'Prynn. I kept wondering how we were going to get around the fact that T'Prynn could simply know Anna's secret identity and intentions by slipping a little mind meld in there during their...ah....sessions, if you will
I'm sure there is more, but these things are what comes to mind at this early hour. Excellent job, Ward and Gilmore!
