Quick tought -- we rented iton redbox...but fell asleep at points, so we might have missed things.
But did they show any scenes on Slipknot? So like for the intro of the characters in jail, I don't remember any minutes spent on him (as opposed to Deadshot & Harley).
Regarding what I glanced at previously...with El Diablo's death, they were able to really draw out a character the audience could like, so his death was a bit sad, and woks for the movie.
With Slipknot, that actor is a "forgotten minority", that gets wiped out with just maybe 4 minutes of screen time...combining it with Hollywood's portrayal (or lack thereof) of Native Americans as characters and actors, it feels like a continuation of Hollywood racism (like when you see 3 people at the end of the movie, a white guy, a white girl, and a black man, you already know who for sure is dead).
Coupled with Enchantress getting rescued -- happy endings for the white people. And other minority-played actors not really getting much (Katana, Killer Croc)
I know you can only do so much with a big cast but limited time (and an expectation of SOMEONE dying)...but still...
This was an OK movie..not changing my stance of calling it the DC Film Universe (or its abbreviation)
But I must say, the marketing department did a great job in creating commercials to build excitement for it, and the twentyOnePilots "Heathens" really fit in well with the movie.
Speaking of commercials, were some of the scenes (like the bar scene where Harley compliments Diablo on his drink choice) - was that missing from the actual movie?
one last thought -- think they will have Amanda Waller turn Deadshot's daughter into an "asset" (with her seemingly advanced STEM skills)?
Your inability to connect with the characters has nothing to do with the quality of the movie, which is objectively FAR from terrible.
.
were you specifically talking about the person you responded to, or people in general? Relatability to characters is certainly one major aspect that makes a film enjoyable.
