Yeah, usually I'd agree you Sci, but when it comes to Harley and the Joker, I never really saw it as glorifying or saying their relationship was a good thing. Just because a movie depicts something, doesn't necessarily mean that it's promoting that thing, especially when the characters are being specifically presented as dangerous, violent, crazy villains.I was responding to "at no time does the narrative explore the ways in which women gain power through exploitation of their sexuality or what the costs of that kind of power are", and I stand by my response that that's not what superhero fans want. It could be done as a subtext (which could be cool), but it seems you are in favour of nothing less than the thumpingly obvious.
Harley is nuts! That is her character - she is irrational and makes bizarre choices. What's the alternative? Can you propose a specific alternative that would not mean basically creating a new character? When Harley is pining for Joker, how exactly should the film undermine the legitimacy of her desires?
I don't remember exactly how things played out in the movie, but could the whole thing with El Diablo be compared more to an accidental shooting or something like that. If that works, then couldn't you say that him refusing to use his powers would be the same as somebody who accidentally shot someone refusing to use guns after that.As I said, you can't directly analogise a supernatural event to a real situation. I mean, in Harry Potter, the Dementors are allegorical to depression, but you can't overcome depression by waving a wand and shouting a magic word. No-one is accusing JK Rowling of telling lies about mental illness.
The wife's name is not important in dramatic terms. We do get to see her (in a great performance); what would the name add? The term "nameless victim" only really applies to people who have been rendered invisible, unacknowledged, erased from history. We see Diablo's wife, and she makes an impact, so the criticism doesn't really apply.
Suicide Squad: Extended Cut features more action and more Squad with 13 more minutes of footage not previously seen in theaters. The Ultra HD Blu-ray, Blu-ray 3D Combo Pack and Blu-ray Combo Pack will include the extended version of the film on the Blu-ray disc. The extended version will also be available to own on Digital HD.
Suicide Squad: Extended Cut will be available on Digital HD on November 15 and Blu-Ray on December 13.
Precisely to get you to get the blu-ray (thus perhaps motivating you to get hi-def replacements for your DVDs) or to get you to go with a digital copy (which costs MUCH less to distribute than a disc). Same thing went on with DVD in the late VHS era--only way to get proper aspect ratio releases, 99% of the time, was upgrading to DVD.Why does WB not release their extended cuts on DVD as well? I haven't bought Watchmen or BvS for that reason.

Not in PAL format, they weren't.The Director's Cut and Ultimate Cut of Watchmen were most definitely released on DVD.
Enchantress, yes, but Waller is deliciously bad, and Flagg is the straight man essential in a cast full of, um, jokers.
I like my friend's one-sentence summary of the film: "So... the movie is about Harley Quinn's butt?"
It's all about the belly dancing. That's ridiculous and unfair.
It's also about Enchantress's belly dancing.
Well, I just might be able to get through my DVR backlog by then.It comes out on physical media on Dec. 13 in the US.
