By having Thanos sit on his ass (seriously do something goddamn it) and info dump on the Infinity stones 3 frickin times.

He *did* do something. He got up and "did it himself" by getting an Infinity Gauntlet... a second one (i.e. NOT the one in Odin's treasure vault) and saying he's going to do it himself. Unfortunately on his way to do it himself he got distracted by something interesting on TV and had to stop and watch it while a few more movies happened. Poor Thanos, wants all of the power in the universe but hasn't managed to get a DVR yet.

Well at lest he isn't like Thor who needs his dad to tell him about the infinity stones, and then needs a vision to remind him about it. Hell shouldn't he already know what the damned things are seeing as Sif already does and I would think frickin prince of Asguard trumpets her in hearing about shit.

I liked it. Certainly no masterpiece, they could have maybe used half of the songs that they used, the villain was so so, it did feel rushed and choppy at times and we get it Will Smith, you want to see your daughter but overall I felt this was an enjoyable, fun flick that definitely entertained me.

Certainly don't get the vitriol being thrown its way, it all seems pretty silly to me having seen the movie now.

Leo's joker was good. Not as good as ledger but good. I think if there had been more of him in the movie that would have worked well and perhaps better received. Hopefully he's given much more screen time in the future.

Seems like Waller knows Wayne is the batman? Also she was pretty badass, good character.

Having seen the Flash, in this movie and the justice league trailer, I'm pretty on board, think he's going to be a great character.

I hope there's an ultimate edition of this like bvs, I think that would only help the movie.

Definitely a newish take on the superhero genre that I'd like to see fleshed out more in the DC verse.

Keep in mind, Thor isn't too sharp. ;)

To be fair, it's been made pretty clear in the JL trailer that Aquaman doesn't really care (yet) about what's going on outside his own corner of the world. And Cyborg probably isn't even active yet.

My guess is that the trailer was limited to whatever effects the team could complete, so no real underwater or Cyborg CGI stuff. What we did see of Cyborg looked pretty cool though.

Saw this last night and thought it was terrible. Badly conceived and just badly made. Thankfully it did get better as it went along but given how awful the opening half hour was that wasn't difficult. Clearly they decided the original mission brief (which I'm guessing was the actual briefing) wasn't clear enough, so they had Waller meet with those guys in the Restaurant first to explain using small words what she wanted. Which would be fine, except they then left the briefing scene in as well! I kinda lost count how many character introductions Deadshot, Harley and Enchantress actually had? At least three in the case of Deadshot near as I could tell and at least two for Quinn and Enchantress. That's just lousy film making. There's nothing wrong with reminding the audience of things, but reminding them literally minutes after you've told them the first time is so redundant it's untrue.

Some of the action scenes were terribly generic, lots of people shooting/hitting things in the dark, how original, and then the actual ending...well this seems to have turned from Escape from New York into Ghostbusters (and the similarity to both films edged close to copyright violation in certain circumstances).

Leto is an awful Joker on the evidence here. I appreciate much of his performance seems to have been cut but I can only go on what I saw. If it was actually possible to appreciate Cameron Monaghan in Gotham more Leto's performance would have done it. I get that Jerome was a very traditional take on the Joker (even though he wasn't the Joker) but we've had a very different take on the Joker from Ledger, surely it would make sense to go for a more traditional take rather than going out there again? A friend of mine says Leto is the sacrificial Joker, and that the next guy will have an easier ride because he won't be compared to Ledger, he'll just have to be better than Leto.

Killer Croc was terrible, Waller was terrible (no problem with her being nasty, in using criminals to get the job done, in manipulating people for the greater good, but shooting her own staff? WTF?

I love as well how this crazy band of outlaws become true friends in the space of about 60 minutes...despite barely talking to one another!

On the plus side (with caveats). Smith was great, true screen presence, although his Deadshot was too much of a nice guy really, Diablo was good, and I liked that the gangbanger was the most peaceful and philosophical of the bunch but his backstory was painful. Robbie was probably better than she had any right to be, she looked great, had some nice lines, but I never felt she was truly crazy (same for Leto).Cara Delevingne was surprisingly good as Enchantress, though as others have said, that dancing? Really it comes to something when there's an argument for Jai Courtney being the best thing in a film.

It made me laugh a few times, and I wasn't bored (apart from in the opening section) but this might be the worst film I've seen this year. DC need to radically overhaul their model, or else they need to quit while they're behind.

I think someone got Thanos Netflix and now he's binge watching eveything before he begins his evil plan.

I just saw movie about an hour ago, and I really liked it.
Leto was actually in a lot more of it than I expected. I thought his Joker was great, not quite at the level of Hamill or Ledger, but better than Nicholson.
I'm a huge Harley fan, and Margot Robbie was perfect, absolutely perfect. I
actually felt a little bad for her when she thought her Puddin' was dead, and I never thought I'd feel at a bad about the Joker maybe dying
.
Will Smith was great as Deadshot. I understand that some people thought he was to nice, but first of all, this is Will Smith, so there was very little chance he was going was going to be a total bastard. I thought the character worked a lot better this way, than if he had been unsympathetic.
I liked the Batman and Flash appearances a lot.
Enchantress was a pretty good villain. I was a little confused though, because I thought
Enchantress completely disintegrated June's body, but then at the end, June was fine.
Waller was great, very scary and intimidating.
I was pretty surprised when they revealed that she was the one they were rescuing
.
I thought the overall story was pretty good. This is definitely one though where the characters were really what made the movie.
I do have to agree that it was a little surprising to see them going with such a big apocalyptic threat, but I thought they made it work.
I love that they gave everyone a chance to shine.
I thought the action scenes were pretty good.
I was surprised how important El Diablo actually ended up being in the end.
I definitely disagree about the accusations of sexism and misogyny. I'll address each issue I've seen mentioned:
Joker electrocuting Harley: This really didn't bother me. Once she saw it was Joker, she did not hesitate, and was more than willing to let him electrocute her. It was all completely voluntary on her part, and there really wasn't any violence on his part.
Joker and Harely in the club: I think a lot of people thought he was offering Harley to the gangster, but it seemed to me that they were actually just screwing with him. He was a dead man the moment he made the comment about Harley, and pretty much everything after that was just them having a bit of fun.
Slipknot hitting the agent/soldier/whatever she was: This had nothing to do with her being a woman, she just happened to be the closest person when he got lose.
It gets and A from me.

Redditor threatens to sue WB due to lack of Joker in the film:

There are few things that make me laugh harder than impotent nerd rage and unmitigated fanboy entitlement. With that in mind, I really enjoyed the manifesto written by Redditor BlackPanther2016 who was furious enough over the dearth of Joker screen time in “Suicide Squad” to enlist his brother “(who is a lawyer)” to sue Warner Bros. for releasing a misleading movie trailer. Hopefully, his brother is a better at constructing an argument than he is, because he starts off with a convoluted fast food metaphor:

My brother (who is a lawyer) and I are going to sue WB and DC for false advertising, misleading visual images and gaining a profit from us and millions others due to these acts. Our case has been accepted. We begin 11.08.16 (self.movies)

Movie Trailers are like food menus, they give you a preview of what your gonna get. If you look at a McDonald’s menu and you choose to get your favourite burger, presented/showcased in a nice picture with pickles, chicken, mild cheese(you’re favourite, in-fact…that’s the only reason you’re getting this burger…because you love mild cheese). So you use your hard worked money to pay for this burger, you get the burger, but only to find out that…this isn’t the burger you ordered. Yes it has pickles and chicken…but…it doesn’t have mild cheese…it has regular cheese.

Suicide Squad trailers showcased several SPECIFIC Joker scenes that I had to pay for the whole movie just so that I can go watch those SPECIFIC SCENES that WB/DC had advertised in their trailers and TV spots. These scenes are: When Joker banged his head on his car window, when Joker says, ”let me show you my toys”, when Joker punchs the roof of his car, when Joker drops a bomb with his face all messed up and says, ”BYE BYE!”. Non of these scenes were in the movie. I drove 300 miles to London to go watch these specific scenes they had explicitly advertised in their TV ads…and they didn’t show them to me. Adding to this, they were also 2 specific Katana scenes they advertised that were also the reason I wanted to go watch the movie. These scenes were: Katana’s eyes going black, and a slow motion shot of her and her sword taking souls…in a smokey kind of style. These scenes were advertised several times in the 1st trailer and many TV ads…but they didn’t show it to me in the movie. I wasted alot of money paying and travelling to go watch this movie because of these specific scenes they had advertised to me and all of us saying, ”hey, check out our preview! this will all be in our movie, come watch it on the 5th!!”. All lies. I told the theatre about this unjust act and said I didn’t get what I came here to see…can I have my money back. They laughed at me and kicked me out. So I’m now taking this to court. I want my refund, the trauma of being embarrassed as I was being kicked out and people laughing at me for wanting my refund, and also the 160 pounds of fuel money I used to drive to London from Scotland.

Hmmmm. @kirk55555 maybe?

I agree with your first comment JD, and your Harley spoiler.

Though my opinion on Jared Leto's Joker is skewered by my dislike of his appearance (the tattoos and metal teeth).

Went into the movie with low expectations based on early reviews, but really enjoyed it. One thing I really liked was the shots near the climax of Enchantress illuminated from behind so all you could see was her silhouette and glowing eyes. Thought that image would even give Superman pause.

If Deadshot were to ever show up in a Batman movie, I think an easy way to utilize him is have Joker force him to hunt the bat by using the man's daughter as leverage. Unfortunately for Deadshot, he spilled too much info about his motivations to Harley.

I'd been looking forward to Suicide Squad for months. Saw the movie today and I thought it was fun. Even more than I had hoped for.
