Stuff you simply LOVED...

Of course, he should be added to the list. ;) One thing I liked is how they kept any injury to a face or hand, ect through the movie. I always find it weird in movies and tv shows how a character can be beat up and then 10 mins later they are perfectly fine again...

All other characters had to convince me that they were in fact who they claimed to be but the new Bones was simply
imnotworthy.gif
from the first second he showed up and opened his mouth. He was perfect. I hope they will give him a lot more screen time in the next movie and I seriously hope he'll finally get to say "He'sdeadJim."

Other things I loved:
McCoy: the actor who played him played him beautifully! And he's rather hot! Also loved the scene when he first appears and he's a hipercondriac.
When Kirk says "Bones": I swear he sounds just like Shatner did!!!! Really eerie!
The battle sequences were absolutely brilliant for the movie and fresh!
When the older Spock sees Kirk for the first time on that ice planet. It almost made me cry.
George Kirk: looked like a really young Shatner!! VERY EERIE!
that corvette that young kirk was driving..that thing had power!
The Romulans..you gotta love those! Great Trek villians!
Christopher Pike: loved the fact in the end where he wore the uniform and was in a chair. Bruce Greenwood played him brilliantly!
Spock: looks EXACTLY like Leonard Nimoy!!! WOW!
Chekov putting in his authorization code..that was histerical. It made me think of "nuclear wessels" :guffaw:!

It was a 1966 Corvette Sting Ray. Those vehicles were nothing but power.

However, that brings up one thing I don't like about the film, seeing that Corvette go over the cliff. I know it was just a stunt car with a reproduction body on it but, I just hate to see anything bad happen to America's Star-spangled Sports Car.

In that scene where McCoy is intent on the Enterprise, staring out the shuttle window, he looks particularly nubile.

I think that's Trampledamage's avatar, isn't it?

I've been buzzing for a week; it doesn't dissipate. I think it may be worse. We went to the show again last night, and I copied the whole soundtrack on my iPhone. I put it into MP3 files and will be able to listen to it until the blu-ray comes out, thank goodness. I was not looking forward to cold turkey.

I think we're soulmates.
Soulmates together in our own exquisite, torturous hell.

I saw the damned thing again tonight, and it just gets more wonderful! I am so doomed.

The IMAX was packed, like last Friday.

I just saw it again and thought of another thing I loved:

Sick bay was busy, and McCoy spent a good bit of his screen time actually being a doctor. In TOS, he seemed to spend most of his time with Kirk & Spock and would sometimes talk about things going on in sick bay or activities of his medical staff, but we didn't actually see it. Here, we see sick bay full of patients and staff and it looks more like an ER.

That was one thing I noticed too kythe, that sick bay looked busy. I liked it too, made it seem more real... most of the time sick bay on any of the ships seemed a little sparse.

vermillion - I felt the same way! The minute he stepped on screen and opened his mouth, there he was. :) Oh if you get the novel (which I just picked up last night) there are extended scenes, and some of them are very good at fleshing out Kirk, Spock and McCoy scenes.

I am currently on the Kirk being taken onboard the Enterprise scene.

Yes, freak - McCoy/Karl is a cutie ;) And I know how you felt about Spock's first scene with Kirk in the ice cave, it made me take a deep breath too. Like I posted before, I think it's kind of sad in a way we won't see Nimoy again as Spock but at least we got this one!

That was something ALIAS was fairly good at, at least by tv standards. Granted, Jennifer Garner retained her good looks no matter how times she was kicked in the face, but scars and injuries tended to carry over from episode to episode. If a character got shot in the hand in one episode, it was bandaged for at least another episode or so.

I got that one. I'm up to the scene with Sulu sordfighting on the drill. I wonder how many of those are cut scenes that they actually filmed and will be on the DVD release.

Spock fans will also want the audio book, read by Zach Quinto. Seven CD's with nothing but glorious Quinto voice on them.

i loved the film as a whole, enjoyed some of the little references to things we've heard of before like the mention of Admiral Archer and his pet beagle. But generally I loved the film, the humour everything

^^ Lovely picture, thanks.

Yeah, somebody a few days ago was griping -- justifiably IMO -- that Lucas and Star Wars never get blamed for being derivative, but everything else does. That's just nuts.

\- Spock materialising just after loosing his mother. He doesn't say a thing, he barely moves but you can see he's utterly devastated. Quinto's performance is awesome in that scene.

For me, it's the most powerful and sobering scene in the movie. Especially so since that event is immedialley followed by the destruction Vulcan.

Wow! Just wow!

I was wondering that as I read last night... I am hoping they do have cut scenes on the DVD release, and lots of goodies. I would imagine they would. At least I hope they do!

Yeppers, she fixed us up with a right pretty one.

I'm here to serve ;)

Memo to self: Go get the book!

Oh get the book!

The novel is great so far, and really worth it. I picked my copy up at Books a Million, but they should have it everywhere now. I didn't really see anything else out though, just the novel and a guide with all the characters from the new movie, like a photo guide type thing... lots of Kirk, Spock, Uhura and McCoy pics. :)
