Stuff you simply LOVED...

What I get a small kick out of is actually outside of the movie itself. Trek may come and Trek may go, but since it's inception, we haven't gone a '9 year without some kind of new Star Trek.

1969 Third season of TOS
1979 Star Trek TMP
1989 Star Trek V and the second or third season of TNG
1999 Fifth or sixth season of Voyager
2009 Star Trek

Come what may, I'll have to keep my calendar open for 2019.

I loved every minute of it. I'm not saying it was the best film ever, but as a die-hard Trekkie I was expecting to be dissapointed. I wasn't. I'm still buzzing 3 days later!

I've been buzzing for a week; it doesn't dissipate. I think it may be worse. We went to the show again last night, and I copied the whole soundtrack on my iPhone. I put it into MP3 files and will be able to listen to it until the blu-ray comes out, thank goodness. I was not looking forward to cold turkey.

Chekov saying " Saying i can do that"

I loved this part too. This scene sold the whole "17-year-old wunderkind" for me - him dashing down the corridors yelling "I can do this", his enthusiasm for it all and his desperation that he might not get there in time.

yeah, the mad dash through the corridors yelling "movemovemovemove!!!" was great.

very cute, this Chekhov.

I badly want to hear him say "Nucleeeaaaar Wesssels" now.

- I loved how Kirk showed at the end that he was still the same compassionate, decent Kirk that exists in the TOS, when he offered Nero a chance at survival.
That's exactly what I thought at this moment: "This is the Captain we knew in TOS". That makes his promotion as Captain at the end of the movie more believable.

From the top of my head, I have three things:

- Spock materialising just after loosing his mother. He doesn't say a thing, he barely moves but you can see he's utterly devastated. Quinto's performance is awesome in that scene. In fact Quinto as Spock is one of the things I completely loved in the movie.

- Spock Prime/Leonard Nimoy saying those famous lines at the end of the movie, just as TOS music begins. I was close to tears. I thought it was a beautiful tie-in.

- The score. Of course, if you don't like the main them, you're going to have a problem cause its heard throughout the movie. I thought this theme was spot on, very dignified.
I love the Vulcan theme, first used for the planet and then several time when Spock is on screen. It's exotically beautiful and haunting.
I also liked the fact that instead of using a fast paced action music at the end of the Kelvin attack, they switched to a slow and beautiful theme. That enhances the emotion in those finals moments. Imagine watching the same scene with an action music and you'll realise that the emotional impact isn't the same at all.

A lots of things I liked have already been mentioned so I won't add to the pile ;)

Me, too! I was stunned by its quality on every possible level, i.e., casting, screenplay, CGI effects, story, humor, etc. My extremely high impression was no doubt due in part to having low-ish expectations, and so I must remember to keep my expectations in check for the next trek movie. And the beauty of all this is, another trek movie is now a guarantee! :D

I think we're soulmates.

Much of the music during the Kelvin scenes is background music used in "Lost." When the "Lost" finale was on on Wednesday, that same music played in at least three scenes.

I saw the movie for a sixth time today. There's very little I don't love about the movie!

It may be similar music, but I don't think it was the same. I didn't recognize any of it.

Surprised no one's said this yet.... but how about Kirk walking onto the bridge at the end wearing the gold tunic for the first time?

I don't know about anybody else, but my mouth dropped in amazement seeing that. Because as brilliantly as Pine captured the heart and spirit of Kirk throughout the rest of the movie, I didn't expect him to truly LOOK like the Captain Kirk we know as much as he did.

The transformation was just incredible.

When Spocked turned down the offer at the Vulcan Science Academy and chose Starfleet instead. I cheered.

I used to think that simply going into a different career would be fairly petty stuff to ailienate Spock and Sarek like that. But how it was done, I can fully believe that this could have created such a rift.

I also loved the Kobayashi Maru sequence. I loved Kirk's gung-ho attitude.

The Kelvin nurse with the BIG EYES made a wonderful, truly alien character.

Uhura's roomate.
